Btw, I’m working remote in the mountains and ate at a local pub last night and a 70 year old guy sits a few seats from me at the bar wearing a Kentucky jacket. He grew up in Kentucky and just retired here. Of course I had to hear the whole history of Kentucky athletics in the 50s 60s and 70s when he played football for them. Couldn’t scarf my food and get my check fast enough.

Did learn one thing I didn’t know before. Bear Bryant coached at Kentucky before A&M and was successful there. Even beat the number one team one year, but Kentucky treated him like shit so he left.

the story is they gave Rupp a Cadillac for winning the championship and Bryant got a Rolex, so he moved on to Texas Tech.'

Pat Summit was going to coach at UK too, but she was offered crap money and turned us down.

It was a zippo lighter...Rupp even went on the Bear Bryant show one time, and they joked about it.

Trump and the governor of Kentucky went around the state guzzling bourbon and banging chicks like it was no one’s business. Bryant’s reputation as a womanizer and partier was so bad that it nearly kept him from being hired at A&M and Bama.

Hell, Bryant would go out drinking with Frank Sinatra and keep up with that crowd.

Luckily UNC fans don't have to tolerate it. That's one reason we haven't been able to recruit at quite the same level as UK and Duke year and and year out. But we've done OK. Went to back to back championship games with both teams full of juniors and seniors. Roy develops players. Nassir Little came in a couple years ago and was supposed to be the greatest ever, he wasn't and he averaged less than 20 minutes per game. This year we had a loaded recruiting class and Kerwin Walton, a 3 star out of Minnesota (or somewhere) is starting to get more playing time than most of the 5 stars. Why? He does what Roy coaches him to do and he makes shots. He'd never see the floor at UK...

Cal's stud recruit, Boston, scored 5 points and had 5 turnovers today




Afterwards Cal was asked why Allen and Toppin didn't start the second half and answer was he wants to win every game he coaches but doesn't want to take their heart away.

"their" being Boston's fragile ego of not getting the lionshare of minutes playing in a game.

In fairness, if you're not winning games, you're not helping your players' NBA dreams come true. Cal has done that for the most part. But, as always, UK fans' idea of what they're entitled to is far outside the realm of reality, certainly based on their historical record...

the issue isn't that Dontae is so good - although he is a prolific scorer which is what we desperately need, its that Cal's other guys are so bad there is no excuse as to why he is not putting the kid in.

Boston's contribution is continually in the net negative, the Alabama game he was -23. He is shooting 17% on the season as a 3 point shooter - and Cal keeps giving him the green light to shoot. He had 31 minutes in the game against Auburn
