actually the news has been reporting about people leaving the cities now for almost a year. Corona expedited it, especially in New York, and when a city burns like Minneapolis, because the authorities lack the will or ability to control the populace, then people leave. Who wants to live in a city where the police abandon their precinct during a riot? Who wants to live in a city where a population believes an incident justifies looting , especially in a tourist district like the Million Dollar Mile in Chicago?

Minneapolis will see a noticeable decline in population

Well what can they do when thousands of people are protesting? Just start mowing people down? I'm sure Crotch & Co. would be more than happy with that, so what if a few innocent people get killed? But that would just lead to more and bigger riots all over the place. The police can't control an enraged populace, esp. an armed populace. Thanks, 2nd Amendment!

I live in a world where protesting is peaceful, rioting is not. When you are attacking a police station, breaking windows, setting it on fire - with people inside, you are not a protester. You are not innocent.

and yea, I'd be ok with people being mowed down at that point. We have to have law, we have to have order, there has to be consequences for unlawful actions. Its clear to anyone that the police are the line between civility and chaos, and when they are attacked there has to be severe consequences to insure the next person thinks twice before crossing that line.
Worked well at Kent State.

The extent of their criminality at Kent St was cutting fire hoses of a fire crew trying to put out the fire of an empty building

A little different than fire bombing a police station and the police needing a helicopter to evacuate people from the building

"and yea, I'd be ok with people being mowed down at that point."

How can you seriously say this and then follow it with "we have to have law and order"?? You don't get to murder people for causing property damage or stealing $20 worth of shit from Target, you arrest the person or people who actually committed some crime and then pursue the charges. That's law and order, not mowing down a crowd of people, the vast majority of who are just standing around and haven't committed any crime. But yet you're OK with the police mowing them down? Jesus christ man...

That was a hell of a response for cutting fire hoses.

I didn't say anything about stealing from Target

I said fire bombing a police precinct with people inside. That's premeditated, thats intent - and its going after the protectors of our society.

fuck those people. You're standing around cheering on the burning of a police precinct with police inside and you are immune from the consequences of being in a life or death situation? My advice is don't stand next to the guy in a mask holding a Molotov cocktail.

you think those Koreans were wrong for arming themselves and protecting their property, their livelihood for which they feed their family from "protestors" in LA back in '92? They were civilians. These are police under attack.

People looting target’s and stores should just be investigated, identified and prosecuted and charged beyond mere theft, but people breaking into police stations, or city halls or occupied residences or something like that should absolutely be dealt with in severe ways escalating from dispersal, to non-lethal, to lethal if it doesnt stop.

Of course the problem with the first part of my post about looting is that you know that the poor minorities on video jumping in to steal shoes would all get jail sentences while the bearded socialist soy boys all in black and skinny jeans, funded by PACs and already with phone numbers for activist attorneys sharpie’d on their arms who were really the ones who showed up prepared with crow bars and hammers and opened the buildings up all get off scott free

PWC already emailed their new recruits this past week to tell them to wait on making housing arrangements until they iron out their new remote work policy.
Everyone here already knows you are the resident retard.

I don't think major cities are going to go back to the 1970's, but it's pretty clear that there's really not that much need to lease space at God knows how much per square foot in NYC or Chicago or any other major city when people can work at home or at some other much cheaper location and get just as much accomplished. My hope is that we're going into a phase of history where "work" isn't going to be the end-all and be-all of human existence on this planet. Jesus christ, you spend your whole goddamn life working, mainly dreaming of the day you don't have to work anymore and can actually live, but by then you're too goddamn old to do anything but grow some tomatoes and do the crossword puzzle. Right Crotch? Well, not the crossword puzzle in your case, you have to know how to spell to do that...

Well what the fuck then, bring it on. You like Trump b/c he was going to be a big "fuck you" to the system, well now you're seeing a real fuck you to the system but you don't seem to like it too much. The history of the human race is war, violence and revolution, for fuck's sake, that's what our country was founded on. More often than not it ends badly, very badly, for the previous ruling class and then it implodes on itself in even more violence and chaos. There are way more pissed off people in this country (and for damn sure in the world at large) who probably feel like they don't have that much to lose than there are fat and happy suburban dwellers like us who just wish "the others" would shut up and behave. Good luck if you really believe mowing down citizens is the way to solve this problem, b/c we're going to need it if it comes to that...

giant fucking internet pussies

we are legion - no, we play D&D when we aren't working as support line specialist at the insurance company. We've been stuck at home under quarantine for 3 months and this is our chance to go out and socialize, not wear a mask and stick it to government for making us stay inside for the last 90 days. yea, lets go out and protest in support of that guy we don't give a fuck about except he's an excuse to throw a fit about overreaching government

Also, lets see how desirable Minneapolis is if the police kiilled zero people in the last 2 decades. Its a pretty shitty place now , I can only imagine what it would be like with the police muzzled. I'm sure it would be a utopia.

That's also less than 10 people a year shot by Minneapolis police in a city with a population of 400K, in a city with a crime rate of 50 per 1,000 residents.

One's chance of becoming a victim of violent or property crime is one in 20 in that city.

Chicago is 1 in 23 by comparison.

sounds like people in need a solution. I have one. Pick up a molotov cocktail and throw it thru the window of an occupied police station, and they'll see what they have to lose. I have a feeling they'll suddenly have newfound excitement for leading a full and meaningful life - at least when the police decide to defend themselves instead of run.

just consider me a social worker for them.

Look man, I'm all for law and order, I've got plenty to lose if the world goes to hell. But you're acting like local police and some half ass national guard squad full of weekend warriors (see First Blood) is going to be able to stop a literal flood of truly pissed off people. Have you ever watched The Walking Dead? Or the last season of Game of Thrones? That's what you could be dealing with, hoards of people that won't stop. And if you kill a few dozen of them in a rage for "law and order", their numbers will then increase exponentially. Rinse and repeat. Yeah, you might get some momentary satisfaction that some scofflaws got what was coming to them, but then you're going to get a flood of people who were activated and weaponized by the very "law and order" response that satisfied you so much. It's in my best interest that people stay calm. I suspect it's in your best interest as well. You start shooting up a bunch of protesters (or rioters or whatever the fuck you want to call them) then things are going to escalate quickly. I'm sure that's in somebody's best interest, but I don't think it's in mine or yours...
