I'd like to get an ipad
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Even though I am staunchly anti-Apple, personally, I bought my wife an iPad this past February. I must admit, it's really good (and keeps her off my laptop...fucking it up and whatnot). The battery life is insane.

I will get one of the non-Apple ones (with Flash) once I figure which one is worth it. I finally found an mp3 player I liked (Zune Plantinum) and Microsoft immediately got out of the game afterwards. Maybe my next one will be a Creative product.

Just when I'm getting a new computer, it's going to be obsolete...

They keep changing Operating Systems so they can keep adding billions to Bill's net worth. I love how they describe it as "re-imagined." A hundred years from now, when they're coming out with Windows 50, they'll claim it's re-re-reimagined. (Reimagined will be a word by then)

At some point these new Operating Systems stop being enhancements and start just being novel.

I didnt read much of that at all, but just by seeing the pictures, I can tell you that it looks like there is a real practical reason for that upgrade and not just a bullshit money grab. It looks a lot like the current MS phone OS which is for touch based devices. The mouse is going to be going away soon in favor of touch screens. If thats Windows 8, it looks like a step toward touch screen based OS.

Good thing I already have a touch screen (although I would rather lean back in my chair and use the mouse).

Touch screens get all gooey if you serf and eat peanut-butter crackers at the same time.

I can imagine.

I'm sure they'll think of many improvements to justify new OS after new OS, but there is a law of diminishing returns. AT some point, they're not increasing functionality but merely pushing a kind of techno fashion.

Eventually, they'll implant the I-pad or blackberry or whichever is most appropriate right into your head. At a glance I'd think that would slow the evolution of these things down a bit, but then I think of how people act, and I realize this wouldn't be much of a hindrance either. They'll probably just have little doors put in their skulls.

I don't like touch screens because they get all yucky in no time. and cleaning grout out of a mouse is still one of my favorite things to do

I'm okay with touchscreens on phones. I like to lazily click through things at home, though.

Cool video.

Cling to those memories because after the next launch, the US is out of the manned space flight launch business. None knows when we'll see another American manned vehicle and it could be decades before someone launches something as big a a space shuttle again.

When I was little I wanted to go to Mars. Now, not so much.

When you consider the space sickness, all the hours drifting through the vastness of space, crowded into a tin can with maybe 6 other people, who pretty quick will start hating each other, the boredom, eating everything through a straw, going to the bathroom in a tube and sleeping in a floating sack, (OK that last one might be cool), it might be more comfortable to stay here and let Buck Rogers fly through space.

I'd love to see other, sturdier, more accommodating people go.
