Obama will just say the Republicans are so against taxing the 2% they'd rather have 100% of America taxed instead.

Its a no win proposition for them given they had their ass handed to them in the election.
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Yep, polling has already shown that 53% of Americans will blame GOPers if we go over the cliff. 27% will blame Obama. 13% will blame both.

The R's lose the PR game either way. If Boehner feels he needs to give in to improve public approval, he's foolish. When will they learn that it is rigged against them.

But if he feels he must play the game then he should offer the $42 billion but insist on cuts in spending and entitlements to match the $288 billion lost in not letting the Bush tax cuts expire on the poor and middle class. Because if we know we can only raise $42 billion from raising the wealthy's taxes by 5-7% then we know even if we raise their rate to 70% we still don't cover the tax revenue we enjoyed during the Clinton years.

He agrees with me also.

EITC means that many people who work for a living pay ZERO Federal income taxes. I don't give a shit how poverty striken you are, you need to pay "something" (even if it is one penny on the dollar that you earn) and that money shouldn't be reduced to zero with your tax deductions.

I don't blame them. I just understand why such a large percentage of them (particularly divorced women) vote Democrat.

My ex-wife is a single mother with three girls at home, is on welfare and food stamps and is a hard core republican. Figure that one out.

There's alot of those around here. And plenty of non-college educated guys who pay nothing in income taxes. Esp. when the democratic candidate is black. Not necessarily, but especially...

Ex-wife does not always mean single mother. It could (if you married her after she had those 3 kids, and they weren't your kids, and you two divorced) but I don't tend to classify single mom and divorced mom as one-and-the-same. We need more information here.

I tend to put single mom in a category all by themselves speficially because of the high incarceration rate of her fatherless children (an incarceration rate not in anyway similar for children of divorced parents.)

So is it divorced moms or single moms that vote Democratic?

she is an unmarried woman with three children. She is therefore by definition an un-wed mother. she left me for hubby number two who dumped her for another woman after impregnating her three times.

my brother in law's oldest son (who is my age) is another hardcore Republican. he has 4 kids, the oldest got knocked up at 16 and lives in an adjacent trailer with some dude who aint the baby's daddy. she never got married and the baby had a lot of medical issues. None of the 4 kids have health insurance so I'm guessing they're all on Medicaid. the wife (who was hot and still kind of is) has never worked and is now all about Jesus. But they're all big fans of the GOP and hate Obama. of course, that's because they're all racist rednecks, which is pretty common in the south.

I should add that my brother in law pretty much hands them money quite often. he's retired from Firestone, invested well and has a nice spread. my sister is a Wells-Fargo VP and she makes a lot, too, but is sure to never let a dime of her money go to the Hillbillies. needless to say, she and my brother in law are staunch Republicans but at least they walk the walk.

Mitch McConnell filibustered his own measure today. It was a new and spectacular example of Washington obstructionism and chicanery.

Yep. I always tell my Jewish buddies in NY that they're only white in about 14.5 states. They should stop kidding themselves.

probably so but it's more overt in the south.
