Get yer head out of 'fair and balanced' and you'll find a different perception about the economy. That the economy WAS in the shitter but that it was rescued from sinking into a depression and is currently on a very slow boat to recovery. Just sayin'..Toemeesleather wrote:Sort of along the lines of..."my biggest failure was not passing immigration reform".....when the economy remains in the shitter.

"Oh now I get it, thanks to the liberals the gubment is so AGAINST people actually bettering themselves now that it's hard to believe because the liberals want to keep people "in their place" and dependant on the gubment.
Well in that case I understand why a success story is hard to believe."
A success story is not hard to believe. Believing that you are a success story is impossible to believe, esp. when you spout inanities every time you post. Seriously, who but a piebald idiot would even think such stupid ass shit as "liberals are against people bettering themselves", much less post it in print? Nobody. You seriously see the world in black and white or at best as a cartoon, where there are only starkly contrasted examples of good and evil, right and wrong. That type of thinking is childish at best and the sign of a simpleton at worst. And you are a simpleton. You imagine yourself to be this paragon of "good", a hard-working albeit fatass country boy who would never take a handout. And hey, that's fine. But you can't be content with that, so you look around and anywhere you see people not behaving exactly like yourself, you get agitated and start making up reasons why they are not merely different from yourself, but somehow "bad" or "wrong" or "harmful".
Somehow you have allowed yourself to distill all distinctions of this type into "conservative" (which is good) and "liberal" (which is bad). As I said, it's childish and stupid but it's all you've ever displayed any inclination whatsoever of professing in here. The twin poles of this simplistic view of everything in the human world form a strange mixture in your mind, "boiling and simmering together over the flames of a temperamental vexation". (Strachey) That's what it ultimate boils down to: You are a vexed party, an aggrieved party. A doctor with two kids and no debt, and yet the foremost markers of your character are that of a mewling, whining, simpering, complaining malcontent who is just pissed at the world. Maybe you're not in real life, but in here that's all you are. Obviously it annoys me (fat little whiners always do), but so what? Enjoy your misery, and make sure to blame it on everyone else. It's what you do...

Sure I have blamed all my failures on someone else.....that would be what the liberals do.
As for me not having any debt, once again you are way off. I have plenty of debt and I have never once said all conservatives were good and liberals were bad.
If you can't see sarcasm I feel bad for you, although the lib policies DO in fact strive to "keep people in their place" by giving them a hand out instead of a hand up. It's the old teach a person to fish vs giving them a fish thingy..,
As for me never taking a handout...Once again wrong. I never said I haven't ever taken a handout. I have had plenty of handouts in my lifetime, even some from the gubment shock gasp shock. I have and was very blessed to do so and thankful for it. I repaid any that needed repaying and gave humble thanks to those that wouldn't accept anything in return.
Just because I see wanton abuse every day doesn't mean I don't know that some people do need help. It doesn't mean that I personally don't help them myself, without the gubment forcing me to do so. It also doesn't mean I begrudge my tax money to them. People that need help need help and I also see that every day. Liberals accuse conservatives of wanting to throw out the baby with the bathwater. I don't think that is the case. I think liberals mostly don't look at the bathwater and don't realize the sewage it has become.
But unlike most liberals I can see the difference between need and want/abuse. Just because I get ticked off at the abusers doesn't mean I am ticked off at those that need it.
Now if you substitute "liberals bad" for "gubment bad" then you would be much closer (albeit still wrong). In my opinion there isn't much of anything that the gubment can do that the private sector can't do better. I do see gubment as the problem most of the time, regardless of intent. There are a few things such as National Defense etc but by and large I would rather leave it to the private sector.

He strikes me as a well-meaning dumbass. The effectiveness of his campaign is ample testimony to the latter. All BS aside - despite his remarks, I think Romney definitely cares what the other half thinks of him. He strikes me as a good-hearted guy who stumbles badly when he tries to be something he's not. He didn't mean he didn't care about the 47%, only that he couldn't put campaign energy into getting them swayed to vote for him.

I did see where his effective tax rate has been over 20% and the least he has paid is right at 14%.
This year he paid more than he had to legally. He didn't take all his deductions and gave a whopping thirty percent of his income to charity.
Hard to fault that.
I also saw where the Obama administration spent 70 grand of taxpayer money in his apology tour in Pakistan (apologizing for free speach and decrying the "movie" that supposedly started the outrage, but now that admit it was a terrorist attack).

I wonder what tax rate Romney's "non-producer" secretary paid.

Well lots of these are the disingenuous rates that include medicare and SS, which are SUPPOSED to be for that individual to get benifits back. If solvent they will actually get back much more than they paid in.
As for income tax, I bet she didn't pay more than 20%.
Romney also donates alot to charity, 30% this year. Unlike Obama who started giving after he began running for President Romney has always been generous.
But back on the culture of entitlement, here is a nice article that is actually at that leftwing rag CNN.

I don't know exactly how he got it but my guess would be out of some already pre approved expense account for the state department since the ads were done by him and Hillary.Jungle Rat wrote:How did Obama spend that money without congress approval?Big Orange Junky wrote:I did see where his effective tax rate has been over 20% and the least he has paid is right at 14%.

I don't think the Seattle Times would be making things up against dear leader. That is one of the most liberal areas of the country and they probably thought that story would play well there.

Gentlemen,
Today a sorry group of louts that fancied themselves gentlemen were dealt a harsh but necessary comeuppance. Yes. It is as you think. The Men of Cornell were victorious. The righteousness of the cause played no small part in a delightful 45 to 6 rout of the reprehensible Yale Bull-dogs. I witnessed many a bowler thrown down to terra firma as the Big Red raced to one touch-down upon another. A mustachioed gentleman near me, reeking of garlic and cheap gin, cried out "d--- and dash it all!" when it became most apparent that the Eli cause was hopeless. We cat-called him for his vulgarity 'till he left the grandstands in disgrace, an utter ruin of a man. His team, the pikers on the field, were a sorry spectacle of desperation, ready to try any cheap trick in the book. Forward pass indeed. Our lads were having none of it. We chased them all the way down the hill to their Pullman carriage and saw them off to New Haven, a solemn warning to next year's class of dough-faced dullards and brutes.
