Gallinari's flopping is an embarassment

Yeah. When it happened I had wished Van Gundy was calling the game. It was ridiculous.

Will the Lakers go do in history? Or will Metta make the difference?

Heh, good list of undersized shooters. I thought Shaun Respert and Randolph Childress were going to have long careers. Shows what I know about talent...guess that's why I'm not a GM.

Artest was MVP of the game, IMO, tonight.

I bailed on the bloodbath shortly after the start of the 3rd. At least my wife has someone to talk to tonight. It's a bonus for her.

The Devin Ebanks ejection is just the spark the Lakers need to come back strong in Game 2

LA's new strategy to win a game:

Have your scrubs start a fight in front of OKC's bench and see if you can get any of the starters to come onto the floor and get suspended....

yeah, i found it amusing they ran tape of the benches during the skirmish

like Kobe, Bynum, Westbrook & Durant are going to leave the bench for Josh McRoberts & Royal Ivey

Also, considering the wave of logic that ran through Ibaka's body when he made that full stop after initially running at Artest during the Harden fuckery, I don't think any of the starters for OKC are stupid enough to get involved in an idiotic tussle with any Laker.

OKC is not 30 points better than LA...but if this series goes 6 games it's a big win for Los Angeles.

The overnights for an OKC/SAS series will be telling. It may determine whether or not Stern allows these small market teams to do so well in the future.

Stern is getting soft, maybe it's the old age... but he's fallen behind Goodell & Bettman (NHL) when it comes to effecting change in the league... in a timely fashion

this quote is about 4 years too late if you ask me :
“I think it’s time to look at (flopping) in a more serious way,” Stern said, “because it’s only designed to fool the referee. It’s not a legitimate play in my judgment. I recognize if there’s contact (you) move a little bit, but some of this is acting. We should give out Oscars rather than MVP trophies.”

Yeah, that would only be a good quote if Stern was mocking himself. I credit the position even being addressed totally to Jeff Van Gundy's tirade a couple weeks ago. It was poetry, especially the $25M comment.

On ESPN Radio last night they were asking what can be done to stop it. I think it could be done tomorrow. Stu Jackson should call Ronnie Nunn (I think he's still head of the NBA Officials Organization) and tell him to inform all refs that when players flop (even if you missed a flop in the first half, blew the whistle, and then realized during the halftime film session that you were essentially clowned), that player will have ZERO benefit of the doubt on a foul call unless it is directly and unequivocally witnessed by the ref. So, maybe the guy gets really run into by a defender as he sprints upcourt, or contact really is made on a drive, no call is made because he tried to game the system. Call it the "Cry Wolf Rule" or some shit.

Once players realize they will lose calls in their favor for acting out, then they will stop. That would kill the culture immediately.

and a solution like that would not be that hard to implement

NBA defenders aren't standing their ground and it's ridiculous

I did like that last night Blake flopped against Westbrook and didn't get a whistle... which lead to an uncontested layup

The Gallinari flops that didn't get whistles against LA in round 1 were great too, it's time for players to learn that flopping is just going to result in defenders looking foolish as they lay on the floor and the rest of their team has play 4 against 5.

It's time for NBA defenders to man up

The biggest culprit to me Shane Battier, I roll my eyes when analysts call him a good defender

he's a professional flopper, and more times than not he slides beneath the offensive player well after they have made their move to the hoop
