7 is fair. 5-10 was the consensus. They should have made him change his name on the back of his jersey back to Artest though.

Kobe needing 38 points tonight to take the scoring title made me think of this:

George Gervin vs. David Thompson

The closest scoring race came when Gervin (27.22) edged Thompson (27.15). Of course, it came down to the final day -- April 9, 1978. Gervin took a slim lead into their finales, with Thompson playing first.

Thompson scored 32 points in the first quarter against the Pistons, an NBA record. He had 53 at halftime and 73 at the buzzer. Only Wilt Chamberlain had scored more points in a game.

Gervin would need 58 points against the Jazz later that night. The Iceman, too, came out firing with 20 points in the first and 33 more in the second. Thompson's record was gone in a matter of hours. Gervin finished with 63 to win a wild scoring race. Both the Spurs and Nuggets lost their games, by the way

I doubt Kobe goes for it...unless he's close to it going into the 4th. I was more nervous about LA blowing the game and losing the 3rd seed, but that's not a concern any longer.

It really is an unanswerable question, but I'm asking anyway.

What would have been LA's seeding if the Paul deal actually went through? Would they have finished higher than San Antone or OKC? Pau and Lamar would be gone and we would have CP3. Then, I'm guessing Fish or Blake would have been traded (along with the other chum and refuse we got rid of for Sessions) for another serviceable 4 (probably would have still gone after Beasley). Figuring that Kahn still doesn't bite on the Beasley deal, we would have wound up with Turiaf, or someone.

With that roster, where would we be?

Personally, I find it difficult to move us higher up the list. I think we would have picked up about 5 more games, though. Which would put us one game behind OKC in the standings...

Jordan Hill to be charged with Aggravated Bitch Slapping of his ex-girlfriend.
Former Rockets forward Jordan Hill is accused of choking his girlfriend of two years during an argument at his Houston area residence.

According to court documents, his girlfriend told police that Hill, who now plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, assaulted her and choked her, causing bruising to her body and restricted her breathing on February 29, when he still played for the Rockets. He was traded to LA on March 15.

Hill's girlfriend says she flew into Houston from Florida to see him and they got into an argument while discussing their future. During the argument, she says she threw his cell phones to the floor. She told police that Hill then punched her in the legs, grabbed her, pulled her off the couch and dragged her to where the phones were, and threw her against the wall.

Court documents state Hill demanded that she pick up his phones, and when she turned away from him, Hill grabbed her from behind and put her in a chokehold in which she couldn't breathe.

His girlfriend told police that she told Hill she wanted to go home and he booked her a flight back to Florida. Police say her friend picked her up from the airport and stated she was not herself and that she saw bruises on her legs and upper body.

According to police, they obtained photos of the injuries from Hill's girlfriend that were consistent with her and her friend's statements.

Hill, 24, is charged with assault of a family member. No bond has been set yet in this case.

Isn't destroying a phone during a domestic incident considered domestic violence? I met a dude in jail who was there only because he ripped the phone out of the wall so his bitch couldn't call 911. He was charged with it. Never touched her.

Yep. I chronicled the dual cell phone protocol on WX years ago. There are rules to this game...and if you don't follow them, you will get played.

The "crime" occurred on February 29.
Hill gets traded to LA on March 15.
Darlene Luna comes to LA with Hill on March 17.
Ms Hill returns to Houston on March 28.
Ms. Hill reports the "crime" on March 29.

What are the odds Jordan told her to step off on March 27-ish and the reporting of the "crime" was his payback?
