Tree this has nothing to do with political parties. This has to do with basic math. And incredible scientific breakthroughs. I really wish someone would just level with the 342,000,000 US citizens about health care and put it in simple terms that even an 80 IQ person would understand.

Prior to World War II, we did NOT have competent health care. Its that simple. If you got a cut and it was infected (they ALL got infected), likely you'd be just fine if you had a strong immune system. Your white blood cells were all you needed. If not, sepsis gets in there, and they need to amputate or you die. That is NOT competent health care. Because health care was incompetent prior to World War II, it didn't cost anything. No one worried about paying for health care, doctors couldn't do shit!

Today, if you get a stage III cancer diagnosis, there is 3 chances in 4 you will live another 10 years and at least a 50-50 shot of being cured. THAT is competent health care. And that kind of health care costs about $500,000 over that ten year time span. And in 1932, that money would not have been spent because there was nothing a doctor could do. Today, we spend it. So today, of course health care costs someone a shit ton of fucking money.
