The “just count losses” no matter how many shit teams you played and how few good teams you beat all year doesn’t work with a playoff format. Its only entrenched in the college football mindset because of years of garbage polls which default to that because of how they worked.

Just count losses is a purely objective measurement that fans of SEC disdain. If you would prefer things being more subjective then say that. There are no data points that indicate how lousy Oregon is since they have not lost. More to the point how could anyone say that Alabama is better than any of these playoff teams when they lose to Vandy? Look BYU fucked themselves with their losses to schools like Kansas. As a result they are out as well as Alabama should be but probably isn’t
