Why are we needing to reinstitute the draft? I can only think of two reasons. 1. Enrollment is low because the military no longer attracts young men, and 2. We are preparing to go to war.

recruitment levels haven't dropped off this bad since the Vietnam war. Its number 1, enrollment is low, dangerously low. Young men who know that they aren't alpha enough to emulate Andrew Tate and can't get laid, they figure, why should they fight for this country? There is nothing in it for them. So, sit in the parent's basement, masturbate to porn, play video games, and smoke weed all day. They are out.

We have had peacetime drafts before. In the 1950s, even after the Korean War ended in 1953, we kept the draft going. And we didn't stop it. So if they reinstitute, it would be that. That said, the quality of our fighting force has never been higher. One-in-twelve young men "flunks out" of boot camp. They just send them home because they can't cut it. And they are getting very strict about IQ testing. There will be no Forest Gumps in the Army anymore, must have an IQ over 85. So because they are super choosey (as they should be) we are very low on numbers.

I suppose they could start all that "Stop Loss" all over again. They did that 10 years ago, just keep doing it.

well that instantly cuts out over 10% of the population. That is just an intelligence requirement. And then add in the you-can't-be-obese requirement (with our obesity epidemic), and maybe now 20 or even 30% of the younger population is out.
