Bad news is: losing Hunter aint' good. Good news: he's the only player who is hurt so far (since the season has started). It could be worse. We could have 3-6 guys on the sideline by now. We need everyone to stay healthy so they'll get playing time, learn, and get better.

So if Hunter wasn't hurt the Vols roll the Gators?

Even Peyton is laughing at this.

I said before the game that I thought we had a puncher's chance. That was based on how the offense was playing. And Hunter was a huge part of that. With Hunter and Da'Rick out there and Bray slinging it, our offense was pretty formidable. Losing either of those two big receivers was going to limit us significantly. And Hunter is the better of the two. He has been the more steady presence -- better at getting open consistenly, more of a threat on 3rd down, and more of a big play threat. Even at the beginning of this game the announcers and commentators were taking note and starting to mention Hunter with names like Julio Jones, A.J. Green and Calvin Johnson.

Hunter was a huge part of why there was some optimism for this game this year. Then, early on our first drive, the first time he touches the ball, Hunter comes through with a big catch on 3rd down, making the catch and turning to extend the play up the field -- just like we have become accustomed to seeing him do so many times already in his young career. And then, he just goes down. I think part of the frustration is that no one even hit him. He just crumbled to the ground. And in that one moment, we all knew that our puncher's chance was gone. Even if we didn't want to admit it, we knew. And I think the team knew, too. It just wasn't meant to be.

Maybe if we were more of a mature team, we could have worked through it and overcome the loss. Then again, how would Florida have reacted if they had lost Rainey on the 4th play of the game? We'll never know. In this rivalry, it seems like it's always Tennessee that gets the bad breaks.

After the game I saw a quote by Dooley that said the loss of Hunter was like tying our right hand behind our back. That's probably about as good a description as any. The fighter with a puncher's chance is suddenly asked to fight with one hand tied behind his back.
Deep thought of the day: "I was adopted. I thank my birth mother every day for not aborting me (although I wouldn't doubt her decision if she did)."

It won't matter either way. You lost Jerry Rice, your season is over.

Wtf ever said that?

We'll never know but with him out uf could then roll a safety over to Rogers, double team him, or bring more guys into the box.

What is more frustrating is the special teams play the last decade. Jmfa.

I'm betting the last ko or punt return for a td against uf was Dale Carter second half ko in 1990.

That is fucking terrible. Then throw in the blocked punts and fg's......jmfa.

You wouldn't have won with Carl Pickens for all 4 quarters.

It's a good thing you switched from Cincy to the Gator bandwagon. That worked out pretty well for you, didn't it?

Good to see things haven't changed one bit since I was here last.

It only took me 48 hours to sober up from Saturday. I have totally behaved this season...no smacking, really haven't posted. And see Hunter collapse on his first catch. Game over.

Things could be worse though. I could be a Kaintucky or a Ole Piss fan.
