Colts are fucked. Congrats to the Texans on their first division title.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

Watching the ESPN 30-30 on the Hurricanes. I was there with my dad for the Bengals 2nd Super Bowl. (yes youngsters they actually played in two). I remember those Uptown riots. I could see them from my hotel window. I think I saw Stanley Wilson buying crack there too.

I never understood the STanley Wilson thing unless hte coach walked in on him while he was crawling around on the floor looking for tiny crumbs and thought he was curled up in the fetal position, full of remorse over being a crackhead.

Re: College Football
If the Colts have so little faith in the backups that they already have to go out and sign a guy from a division rival who just retired a few months ago, then why do you even keep the two current backups? They clearly aren't good enough.
This has been one constant criticism of Irsay; he's never taken the backup QB spot seriously.

Re: College Football
but they come at the right price.
Considering Manning doesn't miss games, but you need QBs in camp to get reps for the defensive purposes and other reasons, why not keep around some minimum wage bitches to work through practices? It's not like they're gonna get a starting LB or two by getting rid of the worthless QBs.

Texas A&M has officially informed the Big 12 that we intend to explore other athletic conference affiliations.

Good luck, after the SEC turned you down. I don't see any other conferences expanding for now, except maybe the Big East.

Re: College Football
Dear Commissioner Beebe:
As you know, the Texas A&M Board of Regents has authorized me to take action relating to Texas A&M University's ("Texas A&M") conference alignment. While this letter is not a notice of Texas A&M's withdrawal from the Big 12 Conference (the "Conference"), we are exploring our options. There has been a great deal of speculation and comment in the media about Texas A&M leaving the Conference, including discussions of other institutions joining the Conference.
If Texas A&M withdraws from the Conference, we want to do so in a way that complies with the Bylaws and is supportive of your efforts to seek a new member of the Conference. We would appreciate your conferring with the other member institutions and outlining for us the process to be followed by Texas A&M should it withdraw from the Conference.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
R. Bowen Loftin
President

Re: College Football
Cam Newton has the potential to become the face of the Carolina Panthers franchise. So before the team drafted him with the No. 1 overall pick, owner Jerry Richardson wanted answers to some questions -- including the quarterback's physical appearance.
In a recent interview on "The Charlie Rose Show" on PBS, the 75-year-old Richardson recounted a conversation he had with the 22-year-old Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback on April 4 in which he asked Newton if he had any tattoos or piercings.
When Newton replied "No sir, I don't have any," Richardson told Rose he told the quarterback: "Good. We want to keep it that way."
Richardson first revealed his conversation with Newton in a Charlotte Observer interview in the spring after the quarterback was drafted. The April 4 meeting came just weeks after the team had signed tight end Jeremy Shockey, who has several tattoos.
"I'm not a choirboy. I've never said I was. And I don't want a roster of 53 choirboys," he told the newspaper in April. "I told Jeremy Shockey, 'Don't change your personality. It'll be good for the team. I could do without the tattoos, though."
In "The Charlie Rose Show" interview, Richardson also said that Newton said he was thinking about growing out his hair. Richardson said he responded, "I think you have a very nice haircut."
When Charlie Rose told Richardson he sounded like Vince Lombardi, the Panthers owner responded: "I think I sound reasonable."
Richardson, a former teammate of Johnny Unitas with the Baltimore Colts and the first ex-NFL player since George Halas to own a team, was awarded the Panthers franchise in 1993.
Newton, who is competing with Jimmy Clausen for the team's starting quarterback job, is slated to start Thursday night's preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

With the kind of money they paid for Newton they're not going to let him watch from the isde, Clausen hasn't got a chance of starting. He needs to find a way out of there.

Tonights game is unwatchable here except tape delay at 11:35. Thankfully. Wonder if they get 35K there. I've turned down 3 free ticket offers so far this week.

This Redskins / Ravens game is one of the better pre-season games I've seen in the last decade or so (meaning, I'm actually paying it full attention through three quarters).

Andrew Luck is going to be pissed when he gets drafted by the panthers next year.
U*NC is the cleanest most honest athletic program on the planet. I am jealous of their deserved success, and I'm a mewling cunt.
