Shit, do you need your camping equipment back? Sounds like you need to take him out in the woods and make him root, hog or die!

Re: La Salle Explorers
I'm seeing this with a bunch of my friend's teenage kids around here, too. The guy I work with, his daughter got kicked out of a private girls' school in Raleigh for posting pictures on Facebook of herself and some friends partying. We were both in agreement that she deserved to be expelled for stupidity, if not for partying. She spent half of her junior year and all of her senior year at home going to some lame ass catholic school. Got her shit together and now she's starting her second year at Suwannee and doing well.
His son, who is fixin to be a senior in high school, is a different story. He's always grouchy and impolite, doesn't do anything but sit in his room and play video games. Definitely smoking a bunch of weed. On the positive side, he is evidently running a bunch of pussy, but you can't put that on a college application. Another friend's son (same age) has already been in two pretty bad car wrecks, no injuries to anybody, but some fairly serious property and auto damage. He didn't get into college, but his dad told him nope, you're 18 years old, you're not living here. He's helping him out some, but the kid moved to Greenville and got some shitty job. I don't know that Greenville (where ECU is) is the best place for a teenager who obviously party's too much, but that's where he is.
Point is, the parents have done pretty much everything to give these kids an opportunity to get a good education and make something of themselves, or at the very least live on their own for free with everything paid for for 4 or 5 years if they can just keep a minimum GPA, but they're so fucked up they can't see it. They just want to smoke weed and play video games...

Kick them out. Nothing like not being able to afford pizza, cable, pot, beer, and mobile phone bills to wake a young adult up to the harsh realities of life.

that was my plan at one time, but I was informed by the wife if I did I'd follow him.
The kid wants for nothing and because of that he thinks this ride will never end. My biggest fear is he's going to end up as assistant manager of some retail store that may close any day pulling in $27K a year and living on the edge of poverty at 32 years old.
I honestly believe if he grew up in a household that struggled to pay the mortgage, had to drive a 20 year old car because they had to (I choose to , big difference) and the only vacation you ever took was when someone died and you went to the funeral in another city, his ass would be out there hustling and understanding he better make himself valuable to the market.
He has a friend like this , kid drives a piece of shit car, works 2 jobs and is doing everything he can to pay for college - I bought him lug nuts for his truck because he was driving around with 3 on each wheel. I"m not worried about this kid because he's hungry - life is hard and he understands he has to do certain things to make it easier.
Life isn't hard for my son, and kids today think the anxiety of failure is depression which then becomes an excuse to fail.
What is going to happen in our house is the computer is going to be gone in a few weeks, the smart phone becomes a flip phone, and the wifi shuts down at 9pm.

I'm showing this to my kid to say, "Hey, at least I'm not like this guy."

I've helped my daughter since her mom kicked her out at 18. Tough love but good. She now makes a decent living off of Instagram, YouTube and her blog. Enough to pay her rent, bills and me back. College isn't for everyone. Find what you love and commit to being the best at it. Degree or not. Hell, she probably makes more in a year than hedgie does selling corn.

Military might be the thing he needs.
Sure, I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is, I'm not. I honestly just feel that America is the best country and the other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.
Re: La Salle Explorers
Put the crack pipe down, bitch. Frasier beat the shit out of Ali in the Thrilla and should have won. Watch it again. And yes Ali should have fought Foreman again. Foreman would have whupped that ass.hedge wrote:How are you saying Foreman "handled" Ali? He knocked him out in the 7th round. Also, he beat Frazier and Norton twice each. I will admit, though, that if Foreman hadn't retired after the Ali fight and had watched the tape, he would've likely destroyed him in a rematch...

Re: La Salle Explorers
Put down the crack pipe? Do you know who you're talking to??
Moving on, you're the one who said that Frazier, Former and Norton "handled" him in his prime, while his official record (irregardless of your opinion) against these three was 5-2. I'd say most anybody who knows anything about boxing would confirm that all three of those guys were pretty good, so you answered your own question of who exactly did he beat that was "any good." There were plenty of others that you didn't name, but you look like an idiot when you offer up 3 great boxers who between them managed to secure two wins (one by split decision) out of seven tries as "evidence" that he didn't beat anybody...

Re: La Salle Explorers
Also, I clearly said that I thought Foreman would've destroyed Ali (similar to what he did to Frazier) if he hadn't chickened out and retired altogether after getting (to quote an eminent boxing historian) "knocked the fuck out" by Ali. But Ali was clearly at the very least the equal of Norton and Frazier and, going by the record, superior...
