reading on Fukushima - that place is still an epic disaster in waiting.

Every day 40,000 gallons of fresh water fills in thru the cracks in the foundation of the plant and becomes radioactive and has to be dealt with.

They are attempting to freeze the dirt around the plant - almost a mile in length to prevent the water from coming in. The water is becoming radioactive because the uranium during the meltdown got so hot it burned thru the reactor and has settled somewhere in the basement area (they think) which results in the highly radioactive water. They can't find it because every time they send a robot down there the radiation levels are so high it fries them. They've lost 5 robots to date and none of them has successfully navigated the area. That water eventually leaks out into the sea

and this has been going on since the Tsunami in 2011

Good article in the NYTimes about my city's effort to bring affordable broadband to the city and the county, only to be squashed by the state legislature. You won't see anything like this in DS's county, most of those people are still on dial-up and AOL...

google selected Cincinnati as a city to bring its high speed low cost broadband to

then Cinci Bell announced it would provide fioptics 1gb bandwidth to everyone (in an effort to fight off Cinci becoming a google city) so google pulled out.

Then as you might have imagined, Cinci Bell stops efforts to setup anyone other than the city center on 1gb bandwidth.

My neighborhood has Fioptics at 10mps which is a damn joke - only slightly better than what you could have had in 2002.

We'll be in Asheville most of the weekend, but mostly in town. Wife is not outdoorsy unless it's window shopping

I'd like to see a hidden cam video of you in the car when "now you're messing with a son of a bitch" comes on, doing the chicken neck and pointing at passing drivers as you sing along...
