From Slate.com

It’s the peak of hurricane season, and right now, meteorologists are tracking only one tropical system on Earth.

Over Labor Day weekend, there were exactly zero tropical cyclones anywhere in the world—a very rare late-summer respite. (1500 GMT on Aug. 29 to 2100 GMT on Sept. 1—78 total hours—to be exact, according to data compiled by University of Miami meteorologist Brian McNoldy.) It’s been several decades since there’s been such a lull on the first day of what’s normally the season’s most active month:

Today is the first time for almost 70 years that there have been no tropical storms active anywhere in the world on 1st September.

Almost Oct 1 and still waiting.

.....and from the Washington Post:

The jury is still out as to WHY so much subsidence and dry air has dominated the basin the past couple months, but clearly, it wasn’t very predictable.

Colder than normal ocean surface temperature in an area west of Portugal is another suppressing factor that wasn’t generally accounted for, but that hindsight has shown according to Phil Klotzbach, hurricane researcher at Colorado State University.

“[There is] very strong correlation between June sea surface temperatures in that area and Atlantic ACE values,” Klotzbach said. “I suspect that those cold anomalies propagate and directly impact stability and circulation patterns in the tropical Atlantic during the peak of the season.”

This season will probably teach forecasters to look at a previously-overlooked predictor(s).

....wasn't very predictable????!!!!!!.....overlooked predictors????????!!!!111

I thought the science was settled!!!1111

AlabamAlum wrote:No, you are still missing it. There are victims whose attackers aren't charged due to a lack of criminal evidence. That lack of evidence doesn't mean that the person wasn't attacked or that the attacker didn't do anything.
There WAS criminal evidence. Not only did they have Winston's DNA, they had his semen. They had it all. The "attacker" (your word) definately did do something (that something being he was inside her body.) They had sex. So now all that has to be done is to determine if the sex was consentual or assault (rape.) They concluded (I believe without even talking to Jameis) it was consentual. Thus, no crime and no charges.
AlabamAlum wrote:For example, OJ was found not guilty in the criminal trial but did lose a civil case which has less stringent evidentiary requirements.
OJ was charged and tried. They failed to convict (which weakened any civil case the Goldman's filed) but they still won. Good for them. They may never get a penny in their judgment, but they have it.

The difference here is their son was murdered. There WAS a crime (and someone is guilty of it.) Criminally, that someone is not OJ. Civilly, it is. For this girl who hired the attorney, there was no crime. She can still sue (might even get a judgment) but that just makes her a whore (her guilty of a crime for selling ass) because she wasn't raped.
AlabamAlum wrote:Now answer my questions. Any research showing that all victims who hire attorneys are liars?
No.
AlabamAlum wrote:And in the scenario, was your mom now not raped because she hired an attorney?
She wouldn't have hired an attorney if she was raped. She would have gone to the police. And if they didn't charge him (whoever he is), she'd go to me, and I (if I believed my mother) would (probably) go to jail for murder. Screw the cops and their flawed investigation. If Jameis really raped this girl and the DA won't prosecute (for whatever reason), why hasn't her father paid the boy a visit yet with a baseball bat? This is his baby girl who was violated we are talking about....

...unless he doesn't even believe his daughter's rape story.

If you are going to create a ficticous rape scenario, make one up that is possible in the world of reality.

IB, seriously. It's a man's world and most of us are living the dream at least somewhat. Whereas apparently your relationship with women is something of a nightmare.....we get that. LOUD and clear. You drew the short uh...straw.

It's just a little unseemly, dude. Why don't you go evangalize for your loser support group somewhere else, okay? Go your own way with....Men Going Their Own Way. (Did I get the name right? Do I care?) Chess club, AV club..sure, whatever - but a bunch of middle aged guys making posters about self-ownership, self-awareness, and 'love of the man-osphere' is embarrassingly sad.

Although like prof said, there is some entertainment value in all of this.

The thing is, I'm sure there are some salient, reasonable points to be made by the more intelligent, articulate members of this "manosphere". But IB is not one of them...

He's well spoken and is almost always grammatically correct.

I could fix him up with a couple of wimmin who could work with that.....but I don't think he could go five minutes without getting a drink thrown at his head.

Thrilled that I am that I can entertain you, it is certainly politically comment worthy to discuss why our percentage of married adults just dropped below half the country for the first time in United States history. To me (as I have children and yes I want them married someday) that statistic is frightening. You can be pissed off because it is so unseemly that men are increasingly opting out, but don't look the MGTOW in the face and tell them they are living the dream (at least somewhat.) You will get more than a drink thrown at you.

I got very lucky with my wife. But that is only because I made a deal with myself when I was much younger and single. If I couldn't get absolutely everything I wanted in a woman, I would never have married. I refused to settle and I did my research. And I did enough work on my single self beforehand to justify what I wanted. Most men aren't so pro-active and they are certainly not as lucky.

Our society does not function without marriage. I think we as a country need to do.... whatever we have to do to incentivize men to want to marry. Right now, they got nothing. All marriage offers them is detracting qualities. So if marriage is worth saving (and I think it is) we can argue about what must be done.

No you can't. And I don't see a whole lot of stupid people here at this forum. Instead, what I see are prideful and stuborn people. You can't really fix that either, they need to fix themselves.

IB,

If you continue to assert that a victim hiring a lawyer makes her un-raped and a whore, even if it's your own mother, then you're not just stubborn. You are stupid. To suggest that a relative neglecting to beat the rapist with a bat means that no rape occurred is stupid. Not stubborn. Your various posts on marriage, religion, politics, and the law are funny when couched in terms of an opinion, but you don't do that. You bandy them about as unassailable fact which transmogrifies it from funny to stupid.

Not really, no it isn't Hedge. I don't count a trillion dollar (or even a $700 billion dollar) annual deficit as functioning. That is not a budget nor is it a civilized society. Our nation's existance is being propped up by China. That is because we don't have enough taxpayers to fund our entitlements. That is because men have not only opted out of marriage, they've opted out of the workforce. And for those that do work, far too many do the bare minimum to reduce their tax obligation as low as it can go. As a gender, women are net wealth consumers, consumers finding it harder and harder to find men to keep them at the lifestyle they feel they are entitled. And since women vote (because we have that foolhearty belief in women's suffrage) and they vote for their own entitlement by marrying a government (moving into government housing, getting a government check, getting government food and healthcare) to support the children they had out of wedlock since there is no husband to support them, you have to ask yourself this question:

whom shall we tax?

No, our society does not function without marriage. We've pushed the legal punishment pengulim too far the other way because (as Tick said) "...it's a man's world..." refusing to even acknowledge that at some point (when men capitulate their role in that world) there really isn't a world anymore. With all the mortgage defaults, sub-prime lending, the trillion in student loans for worthless feel-good educations, the bastard children, all the unilateral divorces, the rioting in the streets (be it Ferguson or LA) we are gradually but steadily heading towards anarchy....

I'm not seeing the connection b/w the government's budget and the civility of the society...
