Bacteria is usually the issue with ground beef. Bacteria grows on the outside of the meat before its ground into burger, then when the burger isn't cooked through, you have that bacteria on the inside of the burger. On steaks the bacteria doesn't penetrate the exterior very far and you can kill it off even when you cook it rare.

That said, when I have the option, I still order my burgers medium rare. E. coli ain't got shit on me!

Ground beef was the main problem with mad cow disease, also.

So, eff the bacteria, blame the killing of the art of butchery by mass prodution!

Some states don't allow restaurants to cook ground beef at less than well or well done

Yeah, thats pretty much what I said. Except I went with a Training Day reference/metaphor rather than being blunt and gross.

we've been letting a neighbors kid hang out at our house after school for a few hours everyday until her parents get home.

At Xmas, her family gave us some gifts for doing it and one of them was a box of candy from a company called Sees.

If you guys remember the famous candy assembly line scene from the I Love Lucy, that was the candy she was eating.

Anyways, every Xmas we usually get a box of Whitman's candy. This stuff blows it away. This is the best candy I've ever eaten.

If you guys ever get a chance to pick this us you should. I don't know how much its costs but its worth it.
I like the stinky pinky but only up to the first knuckle, I do not want a GD thumb up there--I've told her multiple times and I always catch her when she tries to pull a fast one---it's my butthole for Chrissakes I'm gonna know--so cut out the BS.

Yeah See's is the shit. Back when I was running the streets as a single dude, this producer chick at ABC in Los Angeles that I used to date would send me a box of See's for my birthday. I didn't know they had them East of the Mississippi. I never heard of them until I started hanging out in LA.

I always had to take Sees candy back to my mother--she was definitely a chocoholic. Used to be you could only get them at Sees stores in CA--but I see them in airports now. --about $15 a pound.

I typically bring a box of See's (alternately Ghiradeli) when I go home to visit for mom. Personally, I don't think it's any better than Esther Price, but I like to have a gift in hand when visiting.

Well, I said I bring her a box. I didn't say how many boxes I started with.

(The candy thing is usually convenient because I can pick up a box after going through security at the airport and not have to worry about it, though I did get screwed last time when I took a red-eye. I was through security before 10PM and everything-including the bars-were closed. SMF! The airport that gets to sleep at a reasonable hour!)

Did you not learn the nation’s airport codes in high school?

SMF is Sacramento International Airport

See's is based in SF or nearby, IIRC. there was a shop on Market Street that was right out of the '30s. you could go in and buy 1 piece or 100 pieces but it wasn't cheap.
