If Bama had 7 Heisman trophies sitting around in a display case somewhere, you'd probably care a whole lot.

Unfortunately, for many years the Heisman voters didn't care for explicit, raw racism. Thus, Bama was snubbed for decades.

I'm not a fan of the Oscars either. I have no idea how many Alabamians have won one, but would I like the Oscars if they have eon several as opposed to one? No, of course not. It's silly.

The Heisman is an individual award given originally by some fatcat, private-club New Yorkers who wanted to party and draw attention to their club.

I only posted that to sass DSL. However, in his defense, it is difficult if not impossible to say how ones opinions of nationally recognized awards might be altered had players from ones team won many of them. I know you can say "No, my opinion wouldn't be any different than it is now under any circumstances", but how can one really know the root causes and myriad influences that have gone to make up our opinions on anything? The bitterness that comes from perceived slights, the joy from vicarious glory, the quiet pride from years of dedication, the indifference from years of sloth and neglect? The list is nearly endless...
