Romney in 2011 on whether he would abolish FEMA:

“Absolutely. And every time you have an occasion to take something from the federal government and send it back to the states, that’s the right direction. And if you can go even further and send it back to the private sector, that’s even better"

Romney today:

“Gov. Romney believes that states should be in charge of emergency management in responding to storms and other natural disasters in their jurisdictions,” Romney spokesman Ryan Williams said in a statement. “As the first responders, states are in the best position to aid affected individuals and communities, and to direct resources and assistance to where they are needed most. This includes help from the federal government and FEMA.”

A campaign official added that Romney would not abolish FEMA.

Sen. Obozo on raising the debt ceiling....

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies. … Increasing America’s debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that ‘the buck stops here. Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership.

Romney says he's cancelling campaign events out of consideration of the storm.

Instead, he's hosting a "disaster relief rally" in Dayton, accompanied by John McCain and Richard Petty. LMAO

I sic'd BOJ once because I used one of his more obnoxious observations in a sentence of my own - I didn't want anybody to think I was illiterate, ffs. 10ac took offense, made a good case, and that became my one and only transgression.

Phonics, ebonics, esperanto, hilljack. Hits all good.

Not making light of anything, but this was a Cat 1 (barely) hurricane. From the coverage you'd think that the scene from the Day After Tomorrow just happened to NYC.

puter...do you really thing the left wing media would blow a storm out of proportion so as to gain ratings and allow an inept liberal to have a chance at looking presidential less than a week before the election? No way!

There's not going to be an extreme death toll but the NJ coast and parts of New York City are pretty wrecked. They hyped up Irene a year ago and this has turned out a lot worse
