Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
It wasn't so much that Obama was tepid in the first debate, it was that Romney came across as much more than expected. Of course, the perceptual bar being set so low was partly b/c of the way his opponents had portrayed him. But at least as far as demeanor and basic intelligence, Romney proved that the picture his opponents had painted of him was wrong. Good for him, that's what you have to do to win an election.
However in both of the next two debates, Obama exposed Romney in term of substance and adherence to ideas and policy. Of course, most American voters care more about style than substance (I suspect many repubs would concur completely, and point to Obama himself as a prime example of this), so the first debate carried more weight than the next two. I'm still pretty sure Obama is going to win the election, but it's probably going to be closer than I thought. But I'm not going to be shocked if Obama wins some states that most people think Romney is going to win (Florida, Virginia, very outside shot at NC)...

Good call. My guess is that this Romneysia strategy will one day be compared to the success of the improved showering technique at Tinnysee and how that propelled them back to the top.

Also, this hurricane Sandy has got to cost Romney some support among women and meteorologists, it's just too early to see it in the polls.

It really is amazing to see how much the major media is ignoring the Libya scandal.

Denied assitance 3 times. Refused to allow AC-130 fire on the mortar locations that person manning .50 cal had targeted with a laser designator.
Listening to the Dad in an interview is some powerful stuff.
Some people fucked up big time on this from security requests being denied prior, to help during the 7 hours being denied, to the it was cause of the video for two weeks when they knew right away it was a terror attack on 9/11. Where is the nyt? Good old Rather? Any of them. Unbelievable.
Special Report should be very interesting tonight.

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
And the two former seals were ordered to stand down twice and they finally ignored the order to go help. They got people out and for their trouble were later killed by the mortar fire that they had requested assistance with multiple times. Sounds a bit like what Gordon and Shughart did in Somalia and earned the CMH for.....
----------------------------------
Former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was part of a small team who was at the CIA annex about a mile from the U.S. consulate where Ambassador Chris Stevens and his team came under attack. When he and others heard the shots fired, they informed their higher-ups at the annex to tell them what they were hearing and requested permission to go to the consulate and help out. They were told to "stand down," according to sources familiar with the exchange. Soon after, they were again told to "stand down."
Woods and at least two others ignored those orders and made their way to the consulate which at that point was on fire. Shots were exchanged. The rescue team from the CIA annex evacuated those who remained at the consulate and Sean Smith, who had been killed in the initial attack. They could not find the ambassador and returned to the CIA annex at about midnight.
At that point, they called again for military support and help because they were taking fire at the CIA safe house, or annex. The request was denied. There were no communications problems at the annex, according those present at the compound. The team was in constant radio contact with their headquarters. In fact, at least one member of the team was on the roof of the annex manning a heavy machine gun when mortars were fired at the CIA compound. The security officer had a laser on the target that was firing and repeatedly requested back-up support from a Spectre gunship, which is commonly used by U.S. Special Operations forces to provide support to Special Operations teams on the ground involved in intense firefights. The fighting at the CIA annex went on for more than four hours -- enough time for any planes based in Sigonella Air base, just 480 miles away, to arrive. Fox News has also learned that two separate Tier One Special operations forces were told to wait, among them Delta Force operators.

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
Benghazi just gets more and more outrageous. Denials of requests for more security before the attack. The failure to defend the consulate, when they had the capacity to do so, while the attack was going on. The claims they didn't have a clear idea what was going on during the attack, despite real time video feed from a drone overhead and constant communication from inside the consulate, and fully debriefed survivors.
Followed by a week of repeated lies about the attack being about a demonstration by a local mob enraged by a video - lies which lasted more than a week. All utter lies and known to be lies by the liars that told the lies.
I basically had no problem with his foreign policy before Benghazi. But Obama's handling of that whole thing is just plain disgusting.

Jesus. H. Christ.
Beirut - Romney 200 kia
9/11 - Bush 3800 kia
Iraq - Bush 33,000 kia and wounded
Benghazi - oprama 4 kia
Count up the dead and wounded in the first three. Compare that to the number in the most recent one.
Fucking amazing how you've finally been affected by these kind of fubar occurrances and have now found your voice.
