Heh - I put in for an irony font and never heard back.

Believe me, I miss some parts of the phulmer era. Especially the 3SiO.

We suck right now. Next Saturday we'll discover whether we have fallen to MississPi levels of suckdom.

I know we suck. It's just a question of how bad do we suck. Do we MississiPi suck? We'll find out Saturday.

I've been an Auburn fan almost 40 years. I've seen us field some great teams and some bad teams. This might be the worst Auburn team I've seen.

In 2008, I remember watching us "beat" Miss. State 3-2. That was the game that convinced most Auburn fans that Tubby needed to go. Today's game might have been a similar tipping point for Chizik. It appears he has completely lost control of this team. I thought he was safe through the 2013 season, but now I'm not so sure.

I quote the words of the Volunteer fight song:

"IT'S ALL THE REF'S FAULT!"

I wondered.why y'all would fire a coach who beat one rival 6 straight and had a very good record against the other chief rival....

So now Tubbs has beaten a top 5 team two years in a row. Does Jay have the jet fueled for.a midnight run to Lubock?

I don't understand it either. I really believe Chizik is a decent man, probably in a bad situation, and a capable coach. The bad situation because Jacobs won't tell Yellafella and Dye to mind their own business. He's had real success on the recruiting trail, so I don't buy the "we're young" bull. Alabama has sent a LOT to the NFL the past few years and many of then had eligibility left on the table. We're about as young over all as AU is.

Besides that, even Tennessee was smart enough to give Fulmer time to try and turn things around.

This is what happens when your $ pipeline towards the best recruits gets the attention of the NCAA. Next time be more careful.

I thought Tubby got a raw deal at the time too. I thought he deserved one more year. Although he showed little inclination to address the infighting and incompetence in his staff.

Chizik probably has one more year before the guillotine falls on him. Maybe he can land one more great recruiting class (with Liner and Foster) before he hands them over to somebody who knows how to coach them. Jacobs can leave too. Dye has nothing to do with the situation.

I agree that the youth excuse is completely gone. It's like the Dem's still blaming Bush.

The only question is whether Lowder One will fly towards Lubbock or Jonesboro, Arkansas or wherever Petrino is hanging out these days. If the rumors are true that UGA will get rid of Richt at the end of this year, then Lowder One can stop in Athens too. He's never great, but he's never this horrible. Besides, it would continue the 60+ year tradition of Auburn and UGA trading former players and coaches.

If Auburn fires Chiz after this year being just two years removed from a BCS championship, the media will rail them.

If Auburn fires Chiz after this year being just two years removed from a BCS championship and hires Petrino, the media will crucify them, the good will Chiz has built with families will be ruined. Can you imagine Petrino trying to recruit against Saban after his exit from Arkansas?

I can.

The REC will make sure the media will rail on us no matter what we do. That argument's a wash. Trying to get the media to love Auburn is like trying to get Arabs to love America.

The good will that Chiz has built with families is down to, "Come to Auburn! Join the dozens of other 4 and 5 star athletes who will experience bowl season from their living room couch! Figure out your chances of making it to the NFL from a bottom tier SEC team!"

I can imagine Petrino trying to recruit against Saban too. "Come to Auburn. I know how to coach teams that kick ass, including that little guy across state. Yeah, I mess with women. I can teach you how to do that too."

Petrino can be the Bill Clinton of college football coaches. You won't want to leave him alone with your wife and daughter, but he is really really good at his job.

Dunno. Probably better than Chizik's.

Hey, wait a minute: I thought you banned yourself from the Auburn thread!

Anyway, if having a winning record against Saban was the standard, we'd have our choice of at least a dozen NFL coaches.
