Kinda. I just think it's hard, with injuries & roster changes, for teams to run 8 in a row. If anyone could do it, Phil Jackson could, but he could never make it happen with those Lakers squads.

So, I don't know what year they'd have lost it (although Dream + Drexler + Mad Max...who played Jordan better than anyone...were most likely), but I think they wouldn't run 8 years straight.

Former Blue Devil Phil Henderson dies

Feb. 18, 2013 @ 10:59 AM

Former Blue Devil standout Phil Henderson passed away Sunday at his home in the Philippines. Henderson, a senior captain on Duke's 1990 Final Four team, finished his Duke career with 1,397 points, 330 rebounds, 217 assists and 128 three-point field goals in 115 games.

"On behalf of the entire Duke Basketball family, we are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Phil Henderson," said head coach Mike Krzyzewski. "Our hearts go out to his mom and family. Phil was a talented player and a good man with a gentle soul. We will miss him dearly."

As a senior, Henderson led the Blue Devils in scoring at 18.5 points per game while earning second team All-ACC accolades. The University Park, Ill., native was at his best in March, averaging 22.3 points per game in tournament play en route to earning ACC All-Tournament, NCAA All-East Regional and NCAA All-Final Four team honors.

Henderson also earned ACC All-Tournament team and All-East Regional team honors in 1989. After scoring 21 points in a tournament win over Minnesota, Henderson netted 23 points in the regional win against Georgetown. He made one of the most memorable plays in Duke history in that contest, when he drove down the lane and dunked over Alonzo Mourning. Henderson started all 36 games as a junior and averaged 12.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

Henderson, a 1990 NBA Draft second round selection by the Dallas Mavericks, went on to play overseas for several years following his Duke career.

I don't see what the big deal is with that.

I wouldn't want it to go much further than that but that was an attention getter.

Me either. It's not like he punched him in the face. He chest pushed him to wake his ass up. It worked too. Kid calmed down & took over from there.

No no no. Kentucky needs to win a few games and sneak in as a 8/9 seed and be in the bracket where IU is #1. That way, if they win their game, they get the curb stomping that so rightly deserve.

it would have been excusable if he was a freshman, for a junior to act like that is weak sauce

Agreed. Grow some stones. But again, he did respond.

Not that impressed with all the fancy dribbling, but he does have game under all that bullshit glitter.

I'll only remember his name once I find out how tall his parents are, though.

I just wonder how much editing went into that. I'll give that the kid is a future Meadowlark Lemon, but his shots were haphazard. I can't believe he is shooting more than 20% at best, plus, he should be getting his ass blocked 50% of the time in the lane.

That half court pass to me was the most impressive thing he did.

An article floating around now points out that Noel injured his knee and growth plate in high school and was advised to take a summer off to make sure it healed. He was warned that playing on it could possible risk a greater percentage of injury later on and he chose to play the AAU circuit based on the advise of his "handlers" whoever they are.

Yep, there were a couple of highlights that showed he has court vision...and those are what made me say he has game.

Plus, I need to know how old the boys he was playing against are. I get he's 11, but if the other kids are 12 or 13, then dude is at minute 13...

Bobcats should draft that 11 year old before they draft Noel...

I think that article alone might be enough to have Noel come back to UK for year.

The Sam Bowie, Greg Oden stigma is going to be on him to prove he has endurance.

I don't know if he'll still go #1, but I suspect some lottery team would take a chance on him b/w 7 and 12 in a second. If I'm him, why risk millions if you know you can get a lottery contract for 3 years. Hell, if there is some way to structure his contract so he doesn't have to play his first season, I'd give him that year off to rehab and have him come in for his rookie season in 2015...

Just imagine this happening to Anthony Davis in the first round of the tourny last year and you get an idea of how Carolina fans felt last year...
