and you can see how corrupt pols and underground "businessmen" are becoming more and more ruthless as the stakes get higher making a buck off booze.

I can take or leave Van Alden, his storyline with the prego hooker has gotten stale to me

Until he kills her in the Schuylkill River and takes the baby to Ohio to raise with his barren wife.

Van Alden's the most whacked out character on the show. and the most dangerous. he's sort of the Mecca of BE

Just finished rewatching the Wire.

Not crazy about the newspaper shit in season 5 - and Omar shouldnt have been got like that - but other than that its as good a show as has ever been on TV.....

For the clowns that have not watched the greatest show in the history of fictionalized TV, I will cover my comment...
That's how the Omar's of the world go out. Unceremoniously. That's why they had the toe tag scene, to highlight that we knew Omar so well, but to the civilian world he was just a nameless dude who took a bullet.
I liked S5 only as much as it was one big season to show us that what we read in the paper is worthless compared to what really is going on out in the streets, the court house and the government offices.

Listening to some hollywood news show yesterday about the Tower Heist movie.

Eddie Murphy came up with the idea for the movie back around 2005 before the economy crashed.

In his version, he wanted his team to rob Donald Trump in Trump tower and he had Chris Tucker, Chris Rock and Dave Chappelle on board to do the movie with him. Then after some iteration he decided the movie would be better if he played a black version of Donald Trump and he pitched the idea to the director.

They bascially stole the idea from him and gave it to Ben Stiller, and then when they were trying to come up with who would be the street thug, they were like "well Eddie is the guy who came up with the movie idea, let's ask him"

I guess this sort of thing must happen all the time because I would think Eddie Murphy would tell them to kiss his ass, put on a fat suit and play all the parts in his version of the movie, but he didn't and jumped at the chance to play the street wise criminal.

I'm glad because it looks like the old Eddie Murphy we loved in Trading Places and 48 hours.

They also said the scene where he and the maid are breaking into the safe was improv , they did several takes and it got so dirty and out of hand they are saving it for the DVD , but the director said it was the funniest scenes he has ever filmed.

That is why he is doing it. Get his movie cred back outside of the fat suits and Dr. Dolittle nonsense.

I bet he also only had a treatment, not a script. Then, most likely, he got onboard and did not make a fuss because he read the finished script and saw that Ratner was directing and decided it was worth getting in on.

Mook and Bklyn - both your opinions are wrong. Please change them or cease posting on the matter.

Shameful shit.

There has been talk of Murphy doing stand-up again, which would be great.

Sadly, there is also talk of a Beverly Hills Cop 4, which would probably suck like the third one.

I'm skeptical of Eddie having enough real-life experiences anymore that would influence him enough to be a funny stand up. He never felt, to me, like the observational comic who could keep his material fresh like a Seinfeld or Chris Rock. He would have to make personal observations/revelations and after he started having kids he folded that up (and the tranny shit didn't help either).

The tranny shit alone should be enough material for an hour special... if he was honest about it.

If I read the article right, they gave up the idea of BH Cop 4 to make this movie

Let's pretend for a moment that zombies are real (as if half of you weren't already daydreaming about that very thing). Have you noticed how most zombie movies take place only after the apocalypse is in full-swing? By the time we join our survivors, the military and government are already wiped out, and none of the streets are safe.

There's a reason the movie starts there, and not earlier. It's because the early part, where we go from one zombie to millions, doesn't make any sense.
Interesting....Ijust read a theory (likely spoiler from the comic) about how Zombie Apacalypse could occer in The Walking Dead.
