I'd love to see the re-match. Not because it's deserved or not deserved...I just want the rest of college football pissed at the SEC!SEC!SEC! Hell, we could start that chant in pre game warm ups.

One in particular, a gentleman I work with. He's a Boise apologist, and believes the schedule doesn't matter. As a Maryland fan, he really dislikes FSU. He also dislikes Florida because they won too much. Pulled for Alabama to beat them in 08 and 09. Then pulled for OU, Tejas, and Oregon to beat the SEC champion.
"There always has to be someone from the SEC!"
"Only when it's deserved."
"Five years in a row?"
"Hell, we've only won it 7 outta 13. If we've made it, we've never lost."

BTW, I can understand him pulling for Oregon.

Some fans might not want a rematch, but the gods sure do. Everyone who stood in the way has fallen: Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Stanford, Clemson, Boise...from a couple of weeks back, Wisconsin. All these teams' fans were touting themselves as more worthy as they shook their tiny fists in the air and shouted "no rematch!" have lost.

Whose left? Arkie? VaTech? Houston? All with losses and all ranked below Bama. If Bama can fend off a scrappy top 25 AU team, it looks like the SEC will add another crown to this unprecedented run of national championships with an SEC vs SEC title game.

Can't argue that. It is what it is. Can't wait for rivalry week.

The only valid alternative to Bama is VaTech. I just don't think many place them at the same level as Bama.

They still have to beat a scrappy bunch of wahoos and then Clemson in Charlotte. If they do that, then they would have decent argument. However, their non conference games this year stunk.

Their only loss was to Clemson, who they will meet in the ACC title game if they beat Virginia. They beat the only team they lost to, they will have a good argument.

Right now, I just don't expect LSU to remain undefeated.

Heh.

We've gone through so many teams to avoid taking Alabama it's kinda funny.

That said, I do not think VT has a reasonable chance to supplant Bama if we beat Auburn.

Do you believe it will still be Bama vs. LSU if Georgia beats an undefeated LSU in the title game? Tiders, Bayou Bengals, and Dawgs all descending on Nawlins for New Years... That would be a sight.

There is no one to jump UAt ala UF - UM 2006.

I know I don't. You're not going to hear any argument from me that Virginia Tech belongs in the national title game, unless VT manages to win out and Georgia wins the SEC title game. Then the BCS would run into a bit of a logic problem sending two SEC teams to the title game. Even in that scenario, however, it's looking unlikely that VT can make it all the way to #2 in the BCS-- the computers' batshit insane love of the Big XII means that Oklahoma State is still going to be #4, and Stanford will probably be #5. I suppose oSu could lose again to OU and VT could pass Stanford by winning two games to Stanford's one, but again, without the SEC title game upset, VT wouldn't have much of any case.

Nicely said.

All the potential #2 teams have been dinged and are imperfect. I think Bama is the best team in that one-loss subset, but if Bama is left out, there should be no crying. Besides, beating AU at Jordan-Hare is not guaranteed.

Not pulling for. Just accepting the inevitable.
