I'm a bit surprised at the outrage from Americans. You *didn't* think our government was doing this shit behind your back?

Of course we knew that. I've been yelling about the Patriot Act since Day 1. I'm surprised it took Americans this long to figure it out (and this is the mildest usage of it, if I had my bets).

I also knew that Russians spy on us and we do the same to them. However, for an intelligence officer to leak that information to foreign interests is treasonous...even if those foreign interests knew it was happening (just not necessarily when or how).

I also find it extremely ironic that this kid leaked because he believed in transparency and dispised the government intrusion...then lobbies for asylum in China. It would be funny if it wasn't so dangerous to our national interests.

its a bit too convenient to me that when Americans aren't buying the narrative being force fed to us by the Program Heads that this guy has weakened America by exposing that our government spies on us, now he suddenly is treasonous because he also leaked information we spy on Russians.

Foreign interests aren't protected by the Constitution. That's why I haven't commented on this mess til now.

I don't really want to defend the guy turning over state secrets - especially to a British rag, but the government crossed a sacred line and is defending their actions with bluster and defiance. The Russian stuff is the fallout from forgetting their own citizens aren't the bad guys.

Revealing that the U.S. was spying on it's own citizens is whistle-blowing. Going beyond that and telling foreign govts (in this case China) where NSA offices are oversees is treason. I can see the difference.

I can see the difference as well but I simply don't care that our government is getting burned on this right now, and I'm glad there are some very visible people still singing the praises on Snowden against the chorus of boo's from the bastards that believe this sort of thing against Americans is OK. At the end of the day, they'd still get to be playing spy games with the bad guys if they respected the constitution and the citizens of this nation.

I don't think Snowden is a hero, but I think this country needs people like Snowden, and I think this country needs people to stand up and say what he did was right.

If Snowden had stuck with the whistle-blowing, then I would agree with you but this bastard recognizes that he has gone beyond that and too far. You don't reveal locations of our foreign spy locations to other nations, period. I'm not going to let my being ok with one aspect of what he did ignore the other.

If Snowden is smart he should just be quiet from here on out. He went to far in revealing the spying of other countries. The more he talks the less of a hero he becomes.

My fucked up opinion. Who cares? Im not doing anything wrong & if ya bust me with a quarter bag with that spy stuff, you won't convict me. Ever. I have no problem with this guy doing what he did. The Russia stuff is the NFL'S Kraft-Putin ring thing.

from what I can conclude after reading it, is he is pissed he wasn't excluded. I'm willing to bet he'd be perfectly fine with it if they were doing it to everyone but public officials and first responders
