What it amounts to is that most of the hardcore rightwing guys in here have some deep-seated aversion to admitting it and instead insist on calling themselves "independents". But they are neither moderate nor independent. You seem like a pretty right-wing guy yourself, but you rarely seem to take the obvious party, FoxNews line like the other dolts in here. For that reason I'd say you are one of the only independent moderate guys in here, at least from what is commonly held to be the rightwing side of politics these days...
That's the highest compliment I've ever received here. I'm a conservative on social and fiscal issues but libertarian and populist on most other issues. I'm suspicious of the Gordon Gecko wing of the R party. They are just as dangerous to freedom as Nancy Pelosi or Harry Reed.

I don't doubt this a bit. Isn't he the govenor for Wisconsin? That would be the same state Green Bay is in???

I the regluar refs have had much worse calls than the one that went against Green Bay (though it was awful it was at least a bang bang play where they could think that both caught the ball and replay isn't allowed to overtern that aspect according to the experts). Heck I have seen them miss things just as bad and replay have the opportunity to overturn it (unlike here) and they let it stand.

I believe most of the scrutinty is now caused by the unions in order to stir the pot. They dissect every single game now with a fine toothed comb, something they didn't do in the past. I personally think they should do that every game and the refs have consequences when they don't call a game right.

My bet is all those former players and union members that are scrutinizing them so tough now will shut up and not say much if anything when the regular refs are back and they screw the pooch.

They've been awful all season but this was the first time their awfulness decided a game on the last play.

There's been way more yelling at the refs from the coaches than I can ever remember.

Oh I agree, but I think alot of it is because they can and because they don't mind helping out the cause a little bit.

So the coaches are in on the conspiracy to spread the lie that the replacement refs suck?

Green Bay fans sound like Tennessee fans.

Not exactly. I think they don't mind helping the players out "against" the owners. Also they are "replacement" so they think they can intimidate them more and think they can get away with more.

They are just taking advantage of the situation just like most would.

No different than a kid testing the new babysitter.

As for the xplayer talking heads, yes I think there is a segment that are intentionally being over critical in order to help out the union against the owners.

NFL fans tend to be fairly conservative politically and there's an overwhelming sentiment that the new refs suck and are NOT as good or professional as the union ones. I don't think this is a liberal plot/narrative.

I think that sentiment was drummed up by talking heads searching for anything that can be construed as a bad call.

I am OK with them doing that, I just hope they continue to pick apart the officials AFTER they get the regular refs back in there. I'm not holding my breath.

And absolutely NO WAY the union refs that are blasting/disagreeing with the calls on the shows are gonna do that to a fellow union ref. I don't even think they would be allowed to.

Obama looking good in the polls with six weeks to go (a lifetime politically)

Fox has upped the noise to convince people that polls are meaningless and under-sample Republicans by about 75%. Even Rasmussen who always polls more R's than D's. Until Romney starts to creep up that is. Then it will be "hey everyone! check out these polls!"

Current RCP averages:

Michigan: Obama +8.6
Minnesota: Obama + 8.4
Pennsylvania: Obama + 8.0
Wisconsin: Obama +7.8
Virginia: Obama +4.5
Ohio: Obama + 4.4
Nevada: +4.2
Iowa: Obama +4.0
Florida: Obama +2.5
Colorado: Obama +2.3
New Hampshire: Obama +1.0
North Carolina: Obama +1.0

Except even the Fox polls trend toward President Obama lead in most swing states.

"Obama tops Romney by seven percentage points among likely voters in both Ohio (49-42 percent) and Virginia (50-43 percent). In Florida, the president holds a five-point edge (49-44 percent).

Methinks Gary Johnson is dreaming a lot.

Mr. Libertarian had a grand total of 0 non-Whites in his ad - (well, the chick on the bike looked a little tan, but she was in the shade and you can't really tell her ethnicity).

Also - he's running as a Libertarian and listed as a Republican.
