its occurred to me after going to the doctor yesterday that I am now in the dreaded "men in your age group" stage of my life where the conversations with the doctor aren't about injuries but are now about preventative medicine.
She dropped the "men in your age group" line on me twice yesterday
both of them were about cancer.
I'll say this - I was stupid about not taking prilosec until recently. That shit is a game changer. I had given up pizza, spaghetti, ribs and bacon.
Now I can eat anything. Also, I can go out and get shitfaced and not have a bad stomach the next day. but of course the real benefit is not having my esophagus all scarred up and pre-cancerous.
its kind of a catch 22 - without prilosec, my cholesterol was ok - not great but within the old 1995 era limits. Fuck you wanna have us anorexic government standards of 2011 - anyways, now that I don't have to watch what I eat, my triglycerides were high.

I just turned 51 and I know I need the colonoscopy this year. Pretty sure you don't need to do "the finger wave" anymore unless you just want one
the fingerwave may actually cause more grief then good. most providers "think" they feel something abnormal and put you down a whole slew of testing that is unnecessary. PSA measurements better then just going by a finger wave.
