Well, free throws already cost Cal a national title at Memphis.

{Ducks for cover when Dave23 reads this...Sorry, Dave!}

couldn't you come up w/ a top-notch free-thrower who actually shot like a man?

and i haven't looked at any unc stats, but i bet ya'll don't suck at the line as bad as the Cats....
Dag, CR, you're right.

UNC = 64.3% FT

UK = 63.3% FT

Any way you slice it, that's just pathetic.

Kentucky ranks 301st in FT percentage in the country and 150th in 3pt defense........pathetic. Won't put up many banners with numbers like these. This team is hard to like.

I actually feel pretty good about the team after the loss. Of course we have free throw issues, but we've eliminated a bunch of problems. Heck, we have a point guard now - something I didn't think we could say 3 weeks ago. Can't fix everything at once.

Damn, cheaters...

Even though Kentucky lost by three points at rival Louisville on Saturday, nobody can say the Wildcats didn't do everything possible to pull off the upset.

They even appear to have tried to reverse their poor free throw fortunes by switching foul shooters without referees noticing.

When referees whistled Louisville's Russ Smith for a foul with 1:05 to go before halftime for hooking the arm of Nerlens Noel on an attempted steal, the Kentucky center initially goes to the foul line as expected. Noel then wanders off the line to get instruction from the Kentucky bench, allowing wing Alex Poythress to slip in unnoticed and replace him.

Even though Poythress was only a mediocre 68.1 percent free throw shooter entering play on Saturday, that's still significantly better than Noel's 53.3 percent prior to the Louisville game. Poythress made the first and missed the second, a point that ultimately made no difference as the Cardinals held off a late Kentucky rally and won 80-77.

Okay we are 8-5.

We are the second worst team in the ACC, but at least we are 8-5.

As I see it, BC will have an RPI in the low 20s/high-teens given how good their competition is. With that, if we can't win the ACC tourney outright (and we wont) we'll need to get to 19-13 (minimum) to squeak in as an "at-large" with an 11 seed or maybe a 12 seed in their tournament bracket. I don't know where those 11 wins come from but if we can't win in the first round of the ACC tourney, we'll never get there. This team can not win more than 12 of the remaining 17 regular season games. They do not have the horses and there are at least 5 guaranteed losses on their schedule.

Feb 2 vs CLEM
Feb 5 @ MIA
Feb 10 vs #1 DUKE LOSS
Feb 13 vs WAKE
Feb 16 @ FSU

Feb 19 vs MD
Feb 24 @ #1 DUKE LOSS
Feb 27 @ #23 NCST LOSS

Its the only chance we have! Going 8-5 against the little sisters of the poor really fucked us right in the ass. BC should never-EVER lose to Harvard or Bryant. We needed to win 10, not 8. 8 just doesn't do it. Now we have to be more than human to brave the ACC gauntlet.

As far as the tourney goes, my hope is just a pipe dream. In reality, we're fucked aTm. Realistically, I think BC goes 14-16 this year.

At least I still have Creighton.
