Heh, as I reflect on boortz's diatribe about our marxist communist terrorist chain-smoking president, it was announced that Chrysler by next Tuesday will have payed back the cost of their bailout in full.

Chrysler may not be thriving like GM, and they may be tied to god-awful Fiat, but they make up the backside of the American Big 3 and keeping them alive along with GM was crucial for the economic recovery to ever have a chance.

Fiat is paying it off by giving them the cash to own a larger stake in the business.

Fine by me.

Good Lord...wtf is going on in Denmark?

Marmite made illegal in Denmark

According to the marketing slogan it is a taste that you either love or hate. But Danes will no longer get the chance to make up their own minds on Marmite after the British delicacy was banned under food safety laws.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/foodanddrink ... nmark.html

The strongly flavoured dark brown spread made from brewer's yeast has joined Rice Crispies, Shreddies, Horlicks and Ovaltine prohibited in Denmark under legislation forbidding the sale of food products with added vitamins as threat to public health.

Study: Liberal leanings hurt Republicans’ place in history

.http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/201 ... #pagebreak

According to a University of Miami study, those historical rankings of American presidents that pop up every year or so are significantly weighted in favor of Democrats, thanks to the liberal leanings of academia.

Political science professor Joseph E. Uscinski, one of the study’s authors, said the new analysis shows that the overwhelmingly liberal academic community consistently ranks Republican presidents about 10 spots lower than the public would.

“I don’t think anyone is surprised,” Mr. Uscinski told The Washington Times. “Among the political scientists and historians that I work with, Democrats outnumber Republicans 8 to 1.”

I was going to sugggest that it simply could be a consequence of two well-funded Republicans in the race including one representing the tea-party. But it appears clear from the article that the Ryan plan is an albatross.

I don't think that fear though can be sustained through 2012.

Denmark sounds like the California of Europe.

So a Democrat beat a Republican in NY. That's hardly unusual.

Extremely unusual in this district.

Not likely to last through 2012 though, as long as the Republicans run somebody who's willing to go against the Ryan budget to assuage seniors fears.

I'm paying more than $500 a month for mediocre healthcare coverage. It's not terrible... they did play $$$$ for my cancer treatments. But I'm really looking forward to Medicare. If they do away with it, that would be the one thing that might lead me to buying a gun & resorting to assasination. In prison, you get healthcare you know.

McCain won this district handily and it went strongly Republican in the NY Governor's race. It's a solidly Republican district that just voted for a Dem instead.

Heh. It has a familiar ring to it, somehow, this '8:1 academia' revelation.

In our very red state, you can get a pretty good education there too. In fact, our prisons are in better physical shape than our state universities. And our prison guards can collectively bargain for salaries, whereas our teachers lost that priviledge in the legislature last week.

Some wags have suggested that if you had more teachers you would need less guards. Thankfully that kind of liberal claptrap no longer holds sway around here.
