Fascinating story.

Although, I do find it hard to believe that it would have happpened in the South. People will band together and take care of problems like that (hot cup of vigilante justice, anyone?). Likewise, him having a "feud" with a Southern deputy would have ended badly for him.

I got to the part where he threatened someone with a hammer at an intersection.

I'm also surprised his ass wasn't shot a long time ago, or the very least a baseball bat upside his head leaving him a slobbering idiot.

If you had a gun in your glove compartment and you know this guys history, he cuts you off at an intersection and gets out with a hammer...???

I don't know.

Double tap to the chest and one to the head.

I think it was more about the personality of the town. They treated everyone like family, so they treated this guy like a crazy family member. You just tried to minimize your interactions & there was always someone from the family who would make excuses for him.

Interestingly enough, if he were in NYC, this would not have happened. He may have stabbed a neighbor or his wife, but he wouldn't have had a gun.

Because there are no guns in New York? Are you saying Plaxico was framed?

Well, in NYC you may have paid for your firearms but, technically, the NYPD owns them. He would have had his guns confiscated by the second judgment against him.

Plax was from Jersey and his gun was not registered...this dude - even with all his craziness - didn't strike me as the type to illegally procure guns

C'mon, you know someone like that would just go get some more. At most, it's a quick trip to NJ.

Well, he could get illegal ones in NYC, too. I'm saying that he would not legally be allowed to possess a weapon.

Now I could have this guy pegged wrong. He just struck me as someone who definitely owned guns because it was his legal right to do so. If they were taken away and he could not legally buy any he would rail against the system, but not necessarily go through the back channels to get another one. Of course, I could be totally wrong. One thing I'm comfortable in saying is that he would not have been able to kill an NYPD officer coming to take him into custody and go on any further killing spree.
