The yacht may be a middle finger to the middle class, but not releasing his tax returns is a double flip-off imo. With the now classic justification "we don't want to give any ammunition to our enemies." Uh huh.

Why is Romney's refusal to release his tax returns so sinister and evidence of wrong-doing, while Obama's refusal to release his college transcripts, or law school transcripts, etc. simply a prudent exercise in personal privacy?

Harumph!!!

These ideas don't move us "Forward," they take us "Backwards."

These are tired and old big government ideas. Ideas that people come to America to get away from. Ideas that threaten to make America more like the rest of the world, instead of helping the world become more like America.

Under Barack Obama, the only "Change" is that "Hope" has been hard to find.

Now millions of Americans are insecure about their future. But instead of inspiring us by reminding us of what makes us special, he divides us against each other.

He tells Americans they're worse off because others are better off. That people got rich by making others poor.

Hope and Change has become Divide and Conquer.

Romney is the vote of big government. Obama is the vote of gargantuan government. Once again...the lesser of two evils.

Fuck this shit. I vote anarchy.

Normally I consider George Will - peace be upon him - to be the best political commentator out there.

But this article, by a Brit, is at least as insightful as anything Will has written. Excerpts:
Myth of Democratic Socialist Society Is Finished

What is being challenged is nothing less than the most basic premise of the politics of the centre ground: that you can have free market economics and a democratic socialist welfare system at the same time. The magic formula in which the wealth produced by the market economy is redistributed by the state – from those who produce it to those whom the government believes deserve it – has gone bust. The crash of 2008 exposed a devastating truth that went much deeper than the discovery of a generation of delinquent bankers, or a transitory property bubble. It has become apparent to anyone with a grip on economic reality that free markets simply cannot produce enough wealth to support the sort of universal entitlement programmes which the populations of democratic countries have been led to expect. The fantasy may be sustained for a while by the relentless production of phoney money to fund benefits and job-creation projects, until the economy is turned into a meaningless internal recycling mechanism in the style of the old Soviet Union.

Or else democratically elected governments can be replaced by puppet austerity regimes which are free to ignore the protests of the populace when they are deprived of their promised entitlements. You can, in other words, decide to debauch the currency which underwrites the market economy, or you can dispense with democracy. Both of these possible solutions are currently being tried in the European Union, whose leaders are reduced to talking sinister gibberish in order to evade the obvious conclusion: the myth of a democratic socialist society funded by capitalism is finished. This is the defining political problem of the early 21st century.

Okay. Here's Maggie Thatcher's cliff's notes version of the article:

The problem with government always spending other peoples' money is eventually they run out of other peoples' money.

Most people don't give a shit where Obama was born or what his grades were in college.

However they are pissed off that people who influence tax legislation are rigging the system in their favor.
