any time there is a subset of teams - football, basketball, whatever

there should be a point system that determines who goes into the tourney and the point system should be transparent and available to all DI teams.

That way there is no committee making the decisions. After each game, the teams has their points earned or taken away and each week they know whether they are mathematically still in the hunt, so there is no way a Baylor could be #6 after beating TCU or Florida St can be unbeaten and ranked #4 unless that is what the point totaled earned them.

At the end of the season the top 4 highest point earners go to the championship or the top 65 in basketball.

We left at halftime anyway, I'm not particularly an ECU fan, but of course was pulling for them just out of local interest (their stadium is about 12 miles from where I work). It was cold and ECU was getting killed at half and my buddy's house is about a mile from the stadium, so we just walked back to his half. No scoring in the 3rd quarter so we felt good about leaving, then in the 4th quarter, ECU seemed to have pulled it out and of course we were joking that we were going to tell everyone we were had stayed until the end b/c we believed in ECU so much, blah blah blah, and then the dagger on the last play. Glad we didn't stay to see that kick in the gut, although it actually would've been kinda funny watching the distraught ECU fans file out...

There were a couple of dudes pulling for UCF sitting a couple of rows above us. ECU fans are rather rowdy and mouthy, to say the least, there was some verbal jousting going on in the first quarter when it was still a game, but then when UCF pulled away in the second quarter, those two guys started yapping pretty good. It was funny. I was wishing I was there during the 4th quarter, I can only imagine what kind of shit the ECU fans around those guys were giving them when ECU took the lead in the final minutes and then had the ball with under 30 seconds left. And then their reaction when UCF scored on that prayer. Again: Damn...

I loved the look on O'Leary's face when that guy caught the ball. He was in total joyous disbelief...

How in the blue hell did ECU lose that game? That is some pants on the head retarded clock management.

That reminds me of the ol' Phat Phil squib kick after taking the lead with less than a minute to go. Anyway, why wasn't defensive holding called on that play?

apparently they thought moving the ball back TOWARD their end zone would confuse and fluster UCF. not so, Pahrts, not so!

The Committee may as well keep the Top 4 how they are. They messed up by giving a ranking before final weekend and leapfrogging TCU over FSU.

Whatever they do, there will be controversy.

If you had to choose one between tOSU, TCU, and Baylor, I really cannot see any fucking way TCU wins out in that argument, and yet they probably will.

That's why the most logical thing to do is keep it as it is. They all won and leaving FSU out is not an option, and they're the lowest ranked. If Baylor was better than TCU on last Monday they should have reflected that, not bump up TCU in advance of the weekend.

I think there's credence to the supposition that they ranked the way they did coming into this weekend for geographic purposes.

And if we went to 8, trying to decide between Boise and Miss State or whatever would still have people up in arms.

If members think TCU is better than FSU then they should vote that way. They position the teams one through whatever according to who they think is best. That is the only criteria.

Just think if it was still 2, would undefeated FSU be left out so Bama could play Oregon for the NC? Talk about pissed off fans...

Nah, it would be FSU and Bama. The pollsters dropped FSU because the Committee did. Without the Committee, FSU is #1.

But we're gonna have pissed off fans regardless.

If FSU manages to beat Bama or even hang close, there is going to be howling from the usual suspects about conference bias. I might actually have some teeth if that happens, though...
