A great game between two excellent teams. I was expecting two superb defenses, and was not disappointed. Too bad somebody had to lose. In the end, LSU had a kicker and Bama didn't.

Did I call this or what?
Professor Tiger wrote:Or maybe Bama's (reportedly) inferior kicker will sail the almost winning field goal "wide right," a la Bobby Bowden.
My call was perfect, if you factor in my dislexia.

Shoulda punted on the third fg...try and pin 'em deep.

The special teams part is what many Bama fans have lamented all season, and it bit us. This will keep an exceptional season down to a great one.

MississiPi St. yer on the clock.

AA, your purveyance of truth jinxed us...speak no more about our less than average kicking game.

I was at work, so I listened to the Eli broadcast and watched some on cbssports.com... Of all the plays I saw, the only one that really left me scratching my head was the wildcat formation where Maze threw the interception. PROBABLY, in the same formation, AJ sees the receiver come open earlier. WHY, when you've moved the ball that well on the drive, even as well as we had for most of the game, do you take the ball away from your QB's hands?

That one just makes me wonder WTF.

I thought your QB stunk and that trick play was marvelous. The LSU DB just made a fantastic play. Bama put themselves in position to win but didn't get it done. It was a great game.

Reminded me of one of those historic heavyweight fights like Ali - Frazier (or Foreman).

I wonder which ESPN doofus will be the first to lament that there weren't any TDs or major offensive fireworks.

Nope. Not the refs. The game, as usual, was officiated well.

I know this one is a tough loss to take, y'all...those were two NFL-lite defenses going at it last night. Untimely mistakes ultimately doomed Alabama's chances. LSU took advantage of their possessions inside Alabama territory and that was the difference.

One that I haven't seen talked about much is the block in the back penalty on the INT return that would have put Alabama inside LSU's 10. It backed them up to outside the 30 and I think that drive ended up netting no points.

I wouldn't be too rough on the kickers...two of those FG attempts were from 50+ and were low-percentage to begin with. The 44-yarder was make-able. It looked like there was enough of a wind to play havoc with a long kick, but I'm not sure.

It seemed like there was a brick wall at LSU's 20 for most of the game. Alabama had multiple possessions that got within LSU's 30, but with the exception of one drive, couldn't get that extra bit closer to make the FG attempts easier. LSU's attempts were all within 30 yards.

It's kind of a shame that they can't play again for the SEC championship...it feels like there's some unfinished business.

If you had told me that at the end of 4 quarters we would hold LSU to 6 points and 200 yards of total offense, I would have bet Hacksaw's life that we would have won the game.

The block in the back call hurt, but that's not why we lost. It's a game we shoulda won, but shoulda don't feed the bulldog.

And while I'm not a fan of a rematch, even though I think we'd win, Oregon is not a valid consideration. Oregon lost by double digits on a neutral field. Alabama was knotted with LSU after 4 quarters at home.

Oh I agree the db made a great play. It was aggressive and designed to score quickly and the db recovered well. Williams had the ball in his hands and should have secured it.
...I did think Williams had possession when he hit the ground, and a tie would go to the offense...

I would like to see the Honey Teabagger sat by the SEC for the "hold" against Dre.

Cheap. Uncalled for. Bullshit.

Bama, like LSU, should have no problem with the rest of the season. When all is said and done, and the Tigers and Tide have immolated the rest of their opponents, they will finish #1 and #2 again.

(That is, unless Bama plays Utah St. in their bowl.)

And we only fall to No. 3 in the BCS... 4 in coaches and ap...go figure.

AA, that re-match, which I agree should not happen, is on the horizon. I do not believe we'd get in if Stanford is undefeated, certainly not deservedly.
