This is a huge win for the western hemisphere...

It was the perfect bridge. It was widely expected that the next Pope would be South American back when Palpatine/Emperor was named JPII's successor. Then after that coup, it was said that he would probably be the last European Pope for a while. Naming an Argentine is perfect. You get a Latin American Pope, but Argentines are the whitest ones by far. It's a perfect two-fer .

Heh. I like when they have an African Papal candidate in the running. I always think that it's like those dating reality shows that have a Black dude in the house on the first day with the girl and by the end of the premiere 2 hour episode he's out the door. I kept expecting to see a Black Cardinal walking across St. Peter's Square, wheeling one of those stewardess suitcases behind him and then getting into the waiting limo, where they will film his final comments.

Also, now that there is a new Pope in place, does it mean that they have to kill Pope Benedict? He can't sit around the Vatican trying to be all Yoda to Francis' Luke. They need to just take him out and crucify him upside down like they did the original dude in Rome.

Or, it could go the other way and dude could abdicate the throne in a year or two and move in with Pope Benedict and film a reality show or comedy. Better yet, they could form a Papal Justice League.
