Prof says the race-sensitive media gives the white shooter an unfair amount of the spotlight, but that hasn't always been the case.
Muhammad shot a lot of white people randomly on highways around DC/Baltimore, not people of color in Anacostia. That scared the hell out of the liberals in McLean and Chevy Chase driving their kids to their exclusive private schools every day. For that reason, Muhammad is lucky those NPR listeners and Volvo drivers didn't drag him to death after his arrest.

I've got friends in Chevy Chase (they say it's mostly conservative)

Or maybe you meant that only the liberals in the area were scared, the conservatives didn't let it bother them

Amazing...4 pages on what is an assault rifle, not a damn response on an Archie Bunker connection...Our country is bound for a shit tank..
And if more sane people were armed, the crazies would get off fewer shots.

That's right. True conservatives would have been armed and have sent Mr. Muhammad off to Allah in short order.

Since I know several conservatives who lived at that time in Dell City, Landover and Silver Springs I can tell you that your statement is Bullshit

Virtually everyone was extremely scared.

The first victim to look for a quick payday. Only one I can see being reasonably culpable is the theater.

How is the theater culpable? They had off-duty police in the theater as security and fire exits are mandated by most state laws.

But does an alarm sound / alert security if they are open?

Usually not. In most theaters, they let you use that as a normal exit. Would an alarm have mattered? Pretty much, the sound of a rifle being shot and people running out act as the alarm.

At home its considered an emergency exit so I would assume security would be notified if it was open. Nobody exits that way when the movie is over anymore. Maybe things are different in Colorado though.

I think that trying to find fault in exits and all the other things we've discussed and add it as a possible reason for this massacre takes the focus off of the one person who is to blame: the shooter.

Actually, I do when I'm parked back there. But then, I would change that practice if they just made it an emergency exit. Perhaps they can turn off the alarm with the credits and put the alarm back on 15 minutes before the movie starts.

The shooter is the blame (as is Sandusky). But what else can be done to limit the chances of this happening again?

Not finding fault, the theater is not to blame. No one is. Just the wacko. Still, you have to take measures so the opportunity doesn't present itself again when the next Crow comes along.

I understand risk management. Ive done risk management. If you change a process, it needs to make a real difference. If it doesn't, it's just a reactionary "do something!" task that doesn't fix the problem. He shot the theater up in around 10 minutes. If the alarm goes off, the manager responds and gets shot. Or he just brings the weapons in with him and shoots the place up without using the exit. I cannot see an improvement there.
