In fairness, I doubt many in here would fare much better in a comparison b/w pictures of ourselves in our 20's vs. now...

I ain't throwing shade

actually I think its a bit unfair

she made the decision to step out of the public eye, I think after a pretty serious car wreck, IIRC

I would have left her alone, but that is 55 year old me talking now.

30 year old me probably would have talked shit about her then masterbated to her later that night

Our comparison would not be as extreme because we weren't that great to start with.

Thanks for fucking reminding me, and I'm only 8 years removed from my 30's...

Shit does catch up with you. Fuck. I'll have a damn wrap-around with the bald spot on top within ten years if I don't do plugs. I've got to lose a shitload of weight, and not only is it harder now, I can't use...ah...medicinal helpers...to do it. I have cut back on the partying though. I don't drink nearly as much as I did. If I do weed/THC, I try to do edibles. I haven't smoked weed in several years, but I hit a vape pen sometimes. Even that vape pen stuff scares me though. Having the wife and kid changed my perspective on a lot of things. If not for the wife and kid -- but really moreso the kid -- after what I saw with my dad, I wouldn't give two shits about taking care of myself more than enough to keep partying until I fell over.

The Hank Jr. song "All My Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down)" from the early 80's hits home some these days, and not just because cornbread and ice tea have taken the place of the pills and 90 proof. It's appropriate for my friends and me. I went hard (relatively speaking...it would have been an average or low key Saturday for me in my 20's or really even after I first got married) the Saturday night before covid started hitting the house, stumbled up to the door in my tux (found the bowtie and coat the next day at a friend's house in the neighborhood) and had to bang on the doorbell and door to get the wife to let me in at 3:30/4. I tried the hair of the dog when I had to help take the daughter to Disney on Ice the next day (people look at your weird when you order a Bud heavy tall boy at one of those events) and I could hardly drink it. I felt like hell and could hardly function, but heck, had this been the first part of my marriage or my single years, I would have woke up at 9-10 (if I had even gone to bed at 330/4...) pounded some pedialyte and/or gatorade and made breakfast while drinking White Russians before going wild the rest of the day...

So I saw someone online mention that Gilligan’s Island now runs with a cultural stereotype warning.

I get that it probably has to do with the depiction of native islanders etc.

The thing I find hilarious is thats like the entire point of the show. Every character is some sort of stereotypical cracker. They even just list off the stereotype in the theme song.

“Oh boy, what is this rich asshole and his clueless wife gonna say today!?”

Thats like, the whole show…

Speaking of nostalgia, on February 1, 1982, Late Night with David Leatherman debuted on NBC. That was 40 years ago. Now that should make you feel old.

Remember his morning show? He also lost out to Robert Hayes for Airplane. His career is a trip.

I binged season 1 of You yesterday on Netflix.

Not sure if I’m going back for season 2 or not…
