More people were killed by lightening than with legally possessed firearms. We need to go after the real killer. Mother Nature.
That bitch.

In the end, he murdered people. We should just make that illegal: problem solved.
He bought all his guns legally as well as his ammo.

Not a question of
need. It's constitutional issue of freedom and what limitations we choose.
So can we classify that constitutional issue as a "FAIL"?

According to the NWS, 26 Americans died from lightning in 2011.
According to the Justice Department, over 25,600 Americans died from guns in 2011 and most were legally owned.
According to common sense, wiz is either a liar or total nutcase.

Sooo, the question of perspective (my original point) is totally been ignored.....Why does a random, senseless killing of 6, 9, or 12 people at one time bring the unethical MSM to the point of exploiting the situation for their own agenda yet hundreds and hundreds of deaths by shooting/knife/beating in their liberal enclaves like New York, Chicago, and LA fail to move the needle?
By all means, keep beating the dead horse/strawman.

Because all the murders that take place in "liberal enclaves like New York, Chicago and LA" actually take place in Harlem/Bronx, Southside/Near Westside and Compton/South Central, NOT in Upper East Side, Burr Ridge or Palos Verdes, where white liberals live.

Unethical MSM = Brian Ross on Good Morning America confusing the nutbag shooter with a nutbag blogger (each with the same name)
Ross, vilified by the likes of Rush Limbaugh no less, has apologized profusely and regrets his very blatant mistake. No excuses, no claiming he was misquoted - or that he was being faceticious. In other words, totally unlike Rush, he came clean on his dumbassery.
Meanwhile, 99.92% of the MSM DIDN'T accuse the shooter of being a teabagger.
And has their been a mass shooting in NY or Chicago with a body count of 12 dead/60 wounded in the last 5, 10, 20, or 40 years? Seems to me the agenda is merely pointing out the increase of these senseless shoot-em-ups...wherever they occur.

Rat,
Did he have a true assault rifle? I heard that he had a semi-auto AR-15, a shotgun and a pistol. Semi-auto doesn't meet my definition as an"assault" weapon.

If ya don't have to pull the trigger for each shot its an assault rifle in my book.

Then, it is my understanding that he did not have an assault rifle by your definition, either. The AR-15 he had was supposedly semi-auto.

He rigged it with a 100 bullet clip. The cops got there in 90 seconds and he was already out back. C'mon now. Think

By way of review of what the legal definition of an assault rifle is:
The 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban, which expired on September 13, 2004, codified the definition of an assault weapon. It defined the rifle type of assault weapon as a semiautomatic firearm with the ability to accept a detachable magazine containing more than 10 rounds, and two or more of the following:
Folding or telescoping stock
Primary pistol grip
Forward grip
Threaded barrel (for a muzzle brake or a suppressor, commonly called a silencer)
Barrel shroud
