my daily addiction is watching Murdaugh trial videos on youtube.
I also watch videos of other lawyers commenting on it and one guy was like - you commit a violent felony to cover up a financial crime that with a good lawyer you could only serve a few years. What were you thinking?
I heard you guys talk about him before all this and I wasn't all that interested but now I can't get enough of it.
I watch his son sit 2 rows behind him in the courtroom, and the son himself, has been tied to hitting and killing a teenager with a car

It all started with a boat in Beaufort.

Well, I am willing to bet Murdaugh was tied up in drug running. The Low Country has long been a haven for smugglers due to the plethora of small islands and channels where one can sneak a nondescript fishing boat through. It has been happening down there for decades.
Murdaugh wasn't stealing millions to prop up his oxy addiction, and I would think he was making enough money to cover his lifestyle.
I'm willing to bet that folks "know" what happened but can't prove it. So, it's not brought up at trial.
I also would not be surprised if Murdaugh's family was killed by him to keep them from suffering at the hands of someone else or by him to keep them quiet after they found out he had been moving major amounts of drugs.
If there's big time drugs involved, there's going to be a trucking company involved somewhere too.

interesting theory
one theory I read was he was wanting to give up the beach house to help cover the debts and get his finances back in line but the wife's name was on the property and with her being in the dark to the extent of his embezzling, wasn't willing to sell it
so with his world about to implode, he decides to kill her and the boy either saw what was going on or was part of the plan because of the boat issue
that is pretty hard to believe, killing your own son over money.
it would blow up the internet if this was due to drug cartel, that just takes it to a new level

"that is pretty hard to believe, killing your own son over money." The wife on the other hand...
A drug ring is definitely involved and cousin Eddie knows a whole lot more than he is letting on. The forensic accountant, today, mentioned that $500K was transferred to him from Murdaugh. I wouldn't be surprised if drug dealers killed the mom and boy and Alex will not out them in fear of his own life, and is rolling the dice he can get a not guilty plea. He will be in jail for 20+ years on the financial crimes anyhow.

A good lawyer could get him just 6 on the financial. He won't be able to afford one though after this.

Wow, the evidence dropped by GM GPS tracker last week showed the movements of Alec Murdaugh's vehicle the whole night, and it's pretty damning. Changes the momentum big time. Before this, I thought there is no way they can convict.

Not so much his phone, but his vehicle. The GM OnStar tracker has him at the Moselle property during their deaths. Have him leaving Moselle going 70-80 mph to his mother's house, except for a slow down to 40 mph where his wife's phone was found. Stayed there for 20 minutes, like his mom's caretaker said (he claimed 40 minutes), and drove 70-80 mph back to Moselle property.
