What did he do?

Branden Wright had a pretty decent game last night. Maybe he'll end up being a decent pro...

Or maybe the Lakers defense gets discombobulated with speedy guards and it's making guys like Branden Wright and Eddie Curry (Eddie Curry!!!!!) look like NBA contributors.

Wright will keep a paycheck for a few years, just don't expect to see his name show up in the papers much, unless he robs a liquor store.

What does amnestied mean? I see that Brendan Haywood was scheduled to make around $21 mil over the next three years for the Mavs, but now it lists those payments as "amnestied". Now he's listed as making $2 mil a year for the next three years for Charlotte. So what does "amnestied" mean?

Amnesty is a provision in the new NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement where a team can use a one-time silver bullet to waive a player who is still under contract. While you still have to pay that player the agreed upon salary, his number is not counted against your salary cap. I'm not sure why it lists things that way, but I would think Charlotte waived him and Dallas picked him up for $2mill a year. So, Wright is still getting his $7M from Jordan, but also getting an extra $2M from Dallas. However, only his $2M is showing up on the official books for Dallas.

I think he was playing for Dallas and now he's playing for Charlotte. But basically a team can say "OK, we have a contract with you for $21 mil over the next three years, but now we've decided we don't want to pay. Sorry."? Is that right?

Kinda. They still have to pay, but it does not get applied to their salary cap number (thereby saving luxury tax penalties).

Wait, are you talking Branden Wright or Brendan Haywood? I think Haywood was waived from Dallas and is in Charlotte, but Wright was in Dallas.

I really don't have any way to judge where we are at this point but I wouldn't be surprised to see us lose to Northwood tonight, a senior led NAIA school

well they are playing 2 games back to back and they got beat by 30 going up against Michigan St last night.

We're going to have to be pretty disorganized to lose

So you're saying you won't be surprised if UK comes out pretty disorganized?

no it wouldn't surprise me but I am backtracking on my original position after seeing how Michigan St manhandled them. Even though we had only lost 1 game mid season, UK fans were ready to give up on Teague.

I suspect similar hand wringing will occur going into the second week of December.
