Thing about the tax returns is, a potload of republicans are asking for them too
Glad to see you paying partial attention....as many dems, including slick willie, are calling Obammer's Bain strategy ill advised.

You may be right, toe. I think the 'Bain strategy' is going to become irrelevant as the steam builds over the tax dodge. It'll be a footnote...like the broken headlight citation the accused murderer gets after running over his ex with his car.

"Negative attack ads are for desperate republicans."
If that was true, 99% of the people who have ever run for any state or federal office since the founding of this country have been, by your definition, desperate republicans...

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
romney is actually running a smart campaign focusing mostly on ecomnomy
granted its 4 mos prior to election but he is essentailly within 1-5 points in all battleground states and tied overall
http://www.yahoo.com/_ylt=ArLXW5TFYNMaE ... 36501.html
debates won't make much difference but I expect this election turns on something either positive or negative that happens the last 2 weeks beore the election,
wouldn't be surprised the way the economy is and the way people are fed up if the senate doen't flip republican this time aorund. no way house goes democrat and the repubs only have to get 4 senate seats from the 33 up for grabs. and 23 of those 33 belong to democrats right now. repubs gained 6 in 2010 so 4 more should be no problem the way this country is going.

Uh no.hedge wrote:Don't be an idiot, the Bain card is so obviously a winner in the perception game that it would've been played irregardless of the polls. That's a clear winner for the Obama camp under any scenario. And many people don't think it's dubious at all. I'm not one of them, but you play the cards you're dealt, and Romney's record at Bain is a straight (and very likely a flush) for Obama and most players go all in with that kind of hand. And win...
The "Bain Card" is no card at all because it has zero impact on the election. The only people in the entire world who care if Romney was still on Bain Capital payroll (or still on the board of directors, or whatever) while Romney was volunteering for the Salt Lake Olympics, are people who were going to vote to re-elect the President no matter what. Romney doesn't lose anything here. Everyone already knows absolutely everything about Willard Mitt Romney. He is the most vetted Presidential candidate in the entire history of United States politics.
I saw a poll today that had Romney ahead in Virginia by 1 point (after trailing for months.) The national polls are even (and getting more even day-by-day) because it is very easy to distinguish which direction these two men want to take our country. For those who need a leg-up (or think they need a leg-up) the obvious choice is President Obama. For those who want people to pull themselves up by their boot straps, they obvious choice is Willard Mitt Romney. It is not likely that either of these men have any mistresses, nor did they father children out of wedlock with a woman on the side. There isn't going to be any gotcha-moments, no skeletons in the closet. What will make a difference, is what makes a difference in every election, the independant voters. They play Kingmaker. They pick the winners. The fringes have absolutely no power at all, and the independants are hedging their political bets until they see these two men debate.
Its going to come down to the debates. That is where is SHOULD be decided, anyway. So two Harvard educated men will match wits against each other in October. This makes Romney's choice for a running mate all the more important. He needs someone that will absolutely intellectually crush Vice President Joe Biden. That is really the only place either of these two candidates can get an edge on each other (their running mates) so Mitt will not squander that opportunity the way John McCain did.

Keeping the House and taking the Senate is indeed a solid, achievable R goal in this election. Thus also says George Will (Peace be upon him).wouldn't be surprised the way the economy is and the way people are fed up if the senate doen't flip republican this time aorund. no way house goes democrat and the repubs only have to get 4 senate seats from the 33 up for grabs. and 23 of those 33 belong to democrats right now. repubs gained 6 in 2010 so 4 more should be no problem the way this country is going.

I think the call for Romney to release old tax documents is a lot like calls for Obama to release his birth certificate.
It is of intense interest to hyper-partisans, and of no interest whatsoever to the other 95% of voters.

A-Fucking-Men...
The idea to say that Steve Jobs didn't build Apple, that Henry Ford didn't build Ford Motor, that Papa John didn't build Papa John Pizza, that Ray Kroc didn't build McDonald's, that Bill Gates didn't build Microsoft, you go on the list, that Joe and his colleagues didn't build this enterprise, to say something like that is not just foolishness, it is insulting to every entrepreneur, every innovator in America, and it's wrong.
And by the way, the president's logic doesn't just extend to the entrepreneurs that start a barber shop or a taxi operation or an oil field service business like this and a gas service business like this, it also extends to everybody in America that wants to lift themself [sic] up a little further, that goes back to school to get a degree and see if they can get a little better job, to somebody who wants to get some new skills and get a little higher income, to somebody who have, may have dropped out that decides to get back in school and go for it. . . .
The president would say, well you didn't do that. You couldn't have gotten to school without the roads that government built for you. You couldn't have gone to school without teachers. So you didn't, you are not responsible for that success. President Obama attacks success and therefore under President Obama we have less success and I will change that.
I've got to be honest, I don't think anyone could have said what he said who had actually started a business or been in a business. And my own view is that what the President said was both startling and revealing. I find it extraordinary that a philosophy of that nature would be spoken by a president of the United States. It goes to something that I have spoken about from the beginning of the campaign. That this election is, to a great degree, about the soul of America. Do we believe in an America that is great because of government or do we believe in an America that is great because of free people allowed to pursue their dreams and build our future?

Re: Puterbac News Network and Political Discussion Thread
Regarding Obama's ridiculous claim that businesspeople didn't build their businesses without government roads, government bridges, government schools, etc.
I would ask where Obama thinks government got the money to build those government roads, government bridges, government schools, etc.
Instead of the government telling businesses they didn't build their businesses without government, businesspeople should point out that government wouldn't exist without business paying for them to exist in the first place.

Liberals believe government is what makes this country great. False.
Liberals believe only government can solve problems. False.
Goverment is not the solution to much in this world. It is the problem in most cases.
