Is that all you Kansas City faggots can do! Talk cheap smack! Pathetic, why do I waste my baseball chatting brilliance on losers like you!

It's not just the small market problem. Baseball is too traditional to a fault. They make very few changes over time. That may satisfy your hardcore enthusiasts, but it wears away the fringe fans' interest. They need to eliminate some teams and shorten the regular season schedule. Play one 5 game series a week from Thursday night through Sunday with a day/night double header on either Sunday or Saturday. I think you can fit 150 games with that format. Playing games Mon-Wed, except for the playoffs, is utterly stupid.
Baseball is not my #1 sport. I played only through Junior Legion, but my family was a Pirates season ticket holder for 15 years. Got to go to two WS in my life. My father was more of a diehard fan and my older brother has more interest than I. My kids and my brothers' kids aren't anywhere as interested. Baseball is losing generations in it's stubborness, IMO.

Its the 'traditional' aspect of the game that is the best thing about it. It sort of amazes me that with the evolution of the talent in the game, both naturally and unnaturally achieved the dimond and the confines of the field still work.
60' 6"" ---- 90' between the bases. The stadiums may change and have (most of them) but the game on the field is the same, whether played by committed amateurs or high paid professionals.
Of course the other 'best thing' about it is the same as its always been too. Willie Mays put it best: They hit it, I catch it. They throw it, I hit it.

The point is not to be "deep" and "original," but to have a base. I'm sure YOU think you are deep and original. Well that's just fine.
If you want something "deep" think about this. The game itself is very simple. Those who play know that. Simple and hard.
Many of the fans, critics and smart asses have their perspective, but there is nothing "deep" or "profound" about knee jerk smack. Its simple......but a different kind of simple.
By the way, most of the smack here is childish. Except of course among those of you who have a history back and forth. Its hard for someone who just arrived to know whether you are jerking each other off for fun or just out of habit.

You want my base?
I like my team. I don't give a shit about your team, unless they are playing my team. Then I hope your team dies a slow and agonizing death.

They'll come to The Goat Pen for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up at our site not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive here as innocent as children, longing for the past. Of course, we won't mind if you look around, you'll say. It's only $20 per person. They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it: for it is money they have and peace they lack. And they'll wander over to this thread; sit in shirtsleeves in front of a brilliant computer screen. They'll find its like they have reserved seats somewhere along one of the baselines, where they sat when they were children and cheered their heroes. And they'll talk about the game and it'll be as if they dipped themselves in magic waters. The memories will be so thick they'll have to brush them away from their faces. People will come Mook. The one constant through all the years, Mook, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It has been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game: it's a part of our past, Mook. It reminds of us of all that once was good and it could be again. Oh... people will come Mook. People will most definitely come.

Crisco. Bardol. Vagisil. Any one of them will give you another two to three inches drop on your curve ball. Of course if the umps are watching me real close I'll rub a little jalapeo up my nose, get it runnin', and if I need to load the ball up I just wipe my nose.
