Brad Bates
He was hired to be the new Athletic Director. He took the job back in early October. Somehow or another, Frank Spaziani is still the head coach.
I certainly hope my fictional screed that you just read is entirely ficture and Brad fires Frank in a week or two, but I fear Brad might not have that kind of power for the reasons I just described. We will all know soon enough....

Miami just self-imposed a bowl and CCG ban. Georgia Tech will play FSU in two weeks. Golden will bolt. It appears that BC might be doing to Miami what NCState did to BC.
I expect that Al Golden will be the head coach of the Eagles next September. I'm thinking Brad Bates probably has something already cooked up with Al.

Miami couldnt draw 20K to home games. Bowl ban was a given.

I think he was here as an assistant. Just a theory. But if Brad can't show him the money then its all moot. It may not be up to Brad, he might be overruled by the BC BOT.

Golden would take over Auburn or Tenn; maybe even Kentucky before he would go to BC - for crying out loud, relocate to taxachusetts...no effing way

Well of course he would but would either of those schools come knocking for him? He's done a decent job at Miami but nothing exceptional IMO. Last year's recruiting class was highly ranked but more because he had so many scholarships to give. According to the Rivals page, they had 33 recruits, 23 of them were 3 stars. On the field he's generally lost the games he should lose and several that he shouldn't have as well.

Bye Spaz.
Enjoy that $80K a month check you get for doing nothing for the next 3 years. Now you'll have plenty of time to make the gravy, stir the sauce, and watch your son play football for the Hingham Harbormen.

Addazio is the new head coach.

They went cheap.... again. I was rooting for Diaco and I guess he wanted too much money.

He trashed the empire Al Golden had built.
And ask a UF fan how they like Addazio - heh.

Exactly. BC administration knows all this. They just went "cheap." 6 year contract, WTF! I'll bet he is pulling in less than $1.2 mil a year. And I'll bet there is a clause in the contract that lets BC cancel it if he doesn't win (to protect themselves from another Spaz contract.)
I'm guessing they wanted Diaco/Golden but then Diaco/Golden said something like the following "....sure I'll be head coach at BC. Saban makes $5.5 mil a year. I'll take half that and I want an unbreakable contract for 5 years that pays me my full salary whether I win or not." AD Brad Bates goes to Pres Father Leahy and the Board of Trustees, they tell Brad to not even respond to that upsurd demand, and just hire who he can get that is the cheapest....
...I'm guessing that is how it turned out. And we get another mustached coach to replace Spaz. We had Spaz, now we have Daz.
BC has an endowment of almost $1.9 billion dollars. They spend none of it on coaches. They just hoard it, size of endowments are how universities "keep score" with each other (kind of like alphamales comparing penis size in the locker room.) BC charges the parents of their high school valedictorian students $52,000 a year. They would never give that to a head football coach. They went cheap. It's the BC way. They probably figure, why win? We are in the ACC and we get the same $17 mil a year from the ACC for tv rights whether we win or lose, so fuck it. Go cheap. We can't fill the little stadium anyway so what difference does it make? I think we are headed the way of Georgetown or (worse) Marquette, athletically.

I long for when we mattered.
I long for that #2 BCS ranking that BC had the first Friday of November.
Oh how the mighty have fallen.

BC has never mattered in football. Ever. Just stop already.
