Speaking of Harrah's, while I stand by the claim that it doesn't matter how nice the room is as long as it isn't dirty or infested with something, there's something to be said for not having to walk through the dregs of society in their tee shirts, jorts, and unnecessary scooters every time you go in or out. Next time I'm leaning toward the Cosmopolitan...
Rio, Harrah's, Bally's - they're all cut from the same cloth. I think a step up without going full blown Ceasers Palace is the Monte Carlo. I would have liked to stay there, although I will say the Rio , while having shitty and dated rooms (27 inch CRT TV's - really?) , it did have 2 bufffets, 3 nightclubs, 2 shows and several shops.

Yeah, I guess there's a middle ground. I was at the Cosmopolitan Friday night though and it was damn impressive, including a balcony with a ridiculous view of the strip.

Didn't ever get to the Rio, but I was at the Palms earlier Friday. I was too drunk/lazy to bother zooming in with the phone cam, but Hef can be spotted up on the balcony over the shoulder of the chick with the dude's hand on her ass, wearing the red shirt and white captain's hat:

Lot of frustrated testosterone in that picture. Like they're all thinking "I thought I was going to get laid by now?" Also 90% of the people in the pic are looking at Hef.

How was the crowd in Vegas?

Am leaving next Wednesday and couldnt get a room at CP - and they wouldnt give me any type of discount for the Venetian - so thats how I ended up at the Flamingo for free for 3 nights - then am paying for the Venetian when the wife shows up. Must be a pretty busy weekend in Vegas.

I subscribe to the Ron Mexico theory of the room - but have read some really shitt reviews of the Flamingo - so we shall see.

Maybe you should remind them that you're a doctor. That always helps. Either that or threaten to fart on them. That usually works for Rat, though.

It was fairly crowded, but it was a fight weekend so I think that was to be expected to some extent. I didn't set foot in the Flamingo so I can't render any opinion on that.

I like it crowded for the vibe and atmosphere - but not so packed its hard to find a table.

Hizzy - your advice is duly noted.

That's pretty much exactly how it was, although I spent far more time in the sports books than at the gambling tables.

Will Nostron drive in front of the Flamingo ala Dan Tanna in his mini-van?

Yes, but it will lean heavily towards the driver side.

several people went to the Flamingo to play poker while we were there but no one talked it up as a place to hang out at.

Did you ever get to that -5 bar? I can't remember if I ever got into Monte Carlo other than having a couple of Tecates at one point at the Diablo place right on the strip, but I didn't make it to the -5 spot in any case. There's another one at Mandalay I think.

yea we went. $15 cover, $12 drinks (in the ice glass) so it wasn't a place to hang out all day but it was fun for the novelty it. It actually only holds about 25 people.

I can't see Hef in that picture. No red shirt or white hat or nothin'...

How was the fight?

Me and Stu stayed at the Rio about 15 years ago, I think it had just opened and the house club was supposedly the new hot spot. Sounds like it hasn't aged very well. Not that many things in Vegas do...
