First, I'm older that you. "Child" does not fit. Second, yes I am comparing Saban and Spurrier because they are comparable: They both left successful college careeers and went to the NFL for a short stent with less than spectacular results.

When they left for the NFL, they both had one MNC. Of course, Saban has two now.

He's right AA, Saban WAS at least .500 in the NFL...

AlabamAlum wrote:Well, Alabama only hung 37 points on them that game and 7 were from Dareus' return for the TD - so, we'll say the Texas defense gave up 30 points.

Which, that year, would put them worse than Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Ole Miss. The Texas D gave up 225 yards rushing to Trent and Mark alone. Heck, McElroy only completed 6 passes that game. There were two reasons for this: 3 broken ribs (from the Auburn game) and the fact that the running game was so effective.

Anyway, I'm sure Florida will be fine.
We'll probably be okay in a few years. However, I do think that Texas losing their QB in like the first series probably had some impact on the team as a whole. Your QB wasn't the threat anyway. That two headed juggernaut of a running machine was simply the finest seen in a long time.

The true freshmen that got playing time last night. Plus some other cut and paste from GC....

Marcus Roberson
Pop Saunders
Louchiez Purifoy
Jeff Driskel
Jabari Gorman
Chris Johnson
Hunter Joyer
Graham Stewart
Trip Thurman
Clay Burton
Tevin Westbrook

The Good

A shutout is always good....

Three hundred yards rushing, good play by the offensive line and the all the backs ran well.

Sturgis field goals and point afters are a breath of fresh air. You know it is going well when you can dink one in.

No turnovers and we recovered a fumble.

Passing game went for over 200 yards which gave us 500 yards on offenses.

The defensive line did a good job stuffing the run.

Easley is fun to watch!

The Bad

Demps having to sit. I am not going to say injury right now because I do not know.

Same with Reed.

Pass defense, we covered worse than the results.

No pressure to speak of on QB.

Red zone offense with Brantley in.

The Ugly

Penalties

We seemed to go flat in 2nd quarter again. Last week we went flat when we changed QBs, this week we seemed to perk up with QB change.

Hopefully you'll get none of that fixed before we leave Hogtown with a win.

Penalties were especially annoying. They probably kept another ten points off the board.

agreed on said good/bad points. Our running game right now consists of pitching the ball to Demps/Rainey into some open field and letting their speed do the rest. That won't be enough when we start seeing defenses with SEC speed. Our DBs also showed that FAU's receivers stunk.

Not happy about Demps getting dinged. Last year he got a nagging injury around this time and was ineffective the rest of the season. Sturgis hit his kicks from all angles which is a good sign.

Tenny will be the usual white-knuckled 1st test of the season. They are laying in the mf weeds. Eliminate the penalties, get a good game from our DLine and we should be able to hold them off.

Loved seeing SOS get over on the Dawgs. Thing that sucks though is that we could go 5-0 against the division, but since neither of those two play Bama or LSU, we'd probably still not make Atlanta.

Well, Scar has to lose two now for GA to go ahead of them. So one of them not playing UA / LSU is a non-factor early.
