looks like I'm down about $900 over last year with a few variables, - income increased, no child care deduction, blah, blah.

overall from a Federal standpoint I'd say it was about break even - maybe I owe $500ish more than last year. State was about -$100

If a poor kid can't get into a private school on mostly scholarship then they should be directed to state universities.

I'm not sure if I ever paid attention to it before or not but this year my tax program gave me my effective tax rate which is 13.28%

I'll have to read up on it to understand if I should be more pissed or not.

Is the effective rate it gives you just tax over gross income? You needed the program to tell you that?

Mine was 13.01%

Im sure if you calculate all taxes (mainly sales tax) I'm at 20+%

Charlottesville, Va., has become the first city in the United States to formally pass an anti-drone resolution.

The resolution, passed Monday, "calls on the United States Congress and the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Virginia to adopt legislation prohibiting information obtained from the domestic use of drones from being introduced into a Federal or State court," and "pledges to abstain from similar uses with city-owned, leased, or borrowed drones."
