The University of Chicago Medical Center has announced plans to turn Ronald Reagan’s childhood home in Chicago into a parking lot for President Barack Obama’s library.

The Commission on Chicago Landmarks previously denied the Gipper’s home landmark status in 2012, according to The Washington Times, and the university subsequently scheduled demolition to begin in January. Officials claim the home does not reach landmark status because it is not architecturally significant and the nation’s 40th president did nothing notable while living there.

On a bright note for me, we're sitting on about half a million bushels of corn and soybeans, that should be enough to eat and keep some animals fed for a few decades. If we can keep the weevils out of it. Actually, I think weevils will fair better than humans after the apocalypse...

I wouldn't be surprised if Goldsboro has a higher murder rate per capita than Chicago for the last few months. Bodies have been dropping like flies around here, but January was a slow month. There were only a couple of murders.

She was shot on the south side not far from the Obama's house in Hyde Park. That's not the worst spot in town but the gang activity down there is pretty bad.

NY had about 400 murders last year on 8 million citizens. Chicago is about 2.5 million.

Chicago was over 500 in 2012 and 340 of them were concentrated in just nine neighborhoods on the south and southwest sides. It's really bad down there.

What are they doing about it?

Passing stricter gun laws?
