Is that an athletic violation? Does it fall under NCAA jurisdiction?

but it's good how Carolina really doesn't have to pay the price for it though, Augie. that part is what really chaps the hides of State fans.

there goes the whole "Atlantic Coast" thing. they just call it what they want with no connection to reality. it's the same thing as seeing SF from Muir Woods.

Just ask the guy who lied his way into Harvard and almost graduated with a degree from the illustrious Crimson if he did not apply for a Rhodes Scholarship and lie on that application.

I can proudly say that I've fired people from some of the finest institutions of higher learning in the country.

Rodney Purvis has been cleared by the NCAA. I am sure Gottfried will lead the Pack to new heights this year. His track record of dealing with talented teams and high expectations merits such acclaim...

Lots of rumors going around about a certain young man named Calvin driving a sporty, new convertible...

I don't know Calvin, but kids from poor families who are on scholarship, can often drive nicer cars than those from middle income backgrounds. With a full ride, they get books, fees, room, board, tuition and medical paid for with the scholarship. But even with that full scholarship, they can still apply for and receive Pell Grants and student loans which are paid out in a check at the beginning of each semester.

Of course, it could be a monied booster, but absent something more than 'driving a nice car,' it'a not really noteworthy.

Why would you need a Pell grant if you had a full ride?

After I typed that, I realized I should've copied DS's post and written "It gives a whole new meaning to "full ride""....

The full ride scholarship is supposed to limit or eliminate the Pell Grant, but they have an honor system for reporting. And if you are from out of state, they allow regular travel back to your home state to count as an expense of attending school- so even if you do report your full ride (or the financial office does - unlikely), you still may be able to keep all or some of it.

I, for one, would like to point out the admirable job done by the University of North Carolina and its fans in going the extra mile to eliminate these kind of shenanigans in college athletics and helping to put "student" back in "student athlete."
