Reds fans got their moneys worth tonight. Unless the Brewers plane crashes, it was fun.

Braves lose 2 of 3 to the horrible Cubbies. Wildcard lead down to 4 games. Our 4-game lead (in the wildcard) is over the second-place Giants. We have a 4-game stand vs them starting tonight.

Hey, I used to walk right by the high school (and field) where the kid the Reds just signed from the first round today. Where's my scouting fee?

Remember Thome and Manny being on the same team here in Charlotte's AAA team. Wonder if there ever has been two future career 500 home run hitters played on the same farm team.

How about two MVPs from the same year playing on the same farm team?

Sandy Kofax, I'm surprised it took this long for him to be in UC's HOF.

Team with most home wins: Brewers (47)
Team with most road wins: BoSox (37)
Team with most home losses: Astros (41)

Thoughts:

* The WS will be the Phillies vs the Yanks/BoSox. No need to even play out the rest of the season in the NL, and you could just go to a 7-game series tomorrow between to BoSox/Yanks in the AL and be done there.

* The Cards would be a dangerous team in the NL if they had pitching.

* The Giants need bats in the worst way. If you could take Giants pitching and combine it with the Cards hitting, you'd have a team that could compete with the Phillies.

* The Braves will take the NL Wildcard, but it won't matter. We're decent, but a full step behind the Phillies.

* The Astros are just horrible. They used to be a decent* team, but they've lost more than 250 games since 2009 and we still have 40 games left in 2011. 258 and counting...on pace to lose 285 over those three years or 95 losses a year (88+86+111).

Astros post season from 1995-2005:

2005, WS
2004, NLCS
2001, NLDS
1999, NLDS
1998, NLDS
1997, NLDS

In the 6 seasons since that 2005 WS: losing seasons in 2007, 2009, 2010 and 2011. Borderline winning season in 2006 (82-80) and decent in 2008 (85-75).
