Tell us who the "courts" imprisoned for killing Randy Weaver's unarmed wife.

by the time the court intervenes, an American citizen has had to become a martyr.

Shoot a policeman when you don't think you should be arrested?

Pull you over for running a stop sign you don't think you ran? Shoot them? Your right.

"What Owlman is trying to say is that tyrrany is ok as long as people get to vote on who administers that tyrrany..."

There has always been a tyranny of the majority in this country. If enough people vote for something, it's not tyranny, it's just the rules. Or so the thinking goes...

You've shown that your knowledge can fit into a thimble. I understand how our courts work. My impression is that you don't.

Randy Weaver is a rallying cry for many people afraid of governments reach, but to your point about making decisions about whether laws apply to you or not - we do that every day ,as your examples show - from jaywalking to speeding.

Its not the expectation of what you'll do in response, its the concern of what the government will do to enforce it. We talk about abuses on here all the time - the police, rather than listen to the agitated complaints of a citizen who thinks they've been wronged reach for a taser.

We have an armed society now and its reasonable to believe that policeman has nothing to fear from pulling someone over for a passing a stop sign now - because the police response when the crime is committed is just and proportional.

Ruby Ridge, Waco and a handful of others was not a proportional response. And those are clear examples of our government reach going beyond being for the people and in reality against them and their rights as citizens. In both cases, had they just surrended to the police or, worse, everyone died - then the question of police abuse , in this case, the BATF, would not see the light of day. Because these people fought back , and paid a price with their life, the government had to put themselves in check.

Last week we talked about how ineffective the BATF is at enforcing the law - its because they were neutered by congress for their zeal in killing American citizens, and that abuse would have been swept under the rug had people not fought back.

You do understand our court system, don't you? That it's not perfect? That it is designed that it's better for a guilty man to go free than for a guilty man to go to jail?

Under the law, both Randy Weaver and "possibly" someone from the ATF should have gone to jail if a jury says that they should. But if you want perfection, move to China. Now, sardis, you explain the difference or do you really believe that Rodney King wouldn't have been in jail a long time if a third party hadn't videotaped the whole thing?

I can't explain the difference because I don't believe there was much of one.

You don't know many policemen do you.

so are you saying they have a legitimate fear? Are there a lot of shootouts over people running stops signs?

It's not the many, it's the fear. They talk about it all the time.
