So whatever we were watching this weekend (HGTV I guess) was riddled with commercials for the new Disney Cruella movie. Does there really need to be a villain origin story movie for Cruella de Vil? She's just a crazy rich bitch that wants a fur coat made out of puppies, its not like she's a goddamned super villain.

GMA is in Wilson this morning for Mothers Day. Are there any white people in Wilson because that would explain a lot.

I'm watching this documentary (Crime of the Century) about Purdue pharmaceuticals development and marketing of oxycontin. These guys make Pablo Escobar look like some two-bit dealer pushing dime bags on the corner of a two-bit town. These guys weren't playing around and they didn't give a fuck about who got addicted, who died, nothing. Granted, I think all that stuff should be legal and people should be responsible for their own choices, but pharmaceutical companies pushing the stuff not only without outlining the risks and dangers but deliberately downplaying them (to the point of claiming that only a tiny percentage of people using their product could even possibly become addicted to it) is not the model I have in mind for drug legalization...

As a side note, one of their main manufacturing facilities for oxycontin was right here in little ol' Wilson..

In an effort to prove that oxycontin was safe and non-addictive even at high doses, they found some dude who had been a heroin addict and was now taking morphine for pain. The highest dose of oxycontin I ever saw was 80mg, but evidently they came out with a 160mg dose. So they started this guy on 10 of those twice a day. He said it wasn't working, so they upped it to 15 of the 160's twice a day. Nope, he needed more. Finally got him up to 25 of the 160's twice a day. When I was doing that shit, one 20mg pill was plenty and it would last awhile. He was taking the equivalent of 400 of those every day...

My dad was on fentanyl patches (150 mcg/h total - 100 and 50 at the same time) for the last few years due to pain with 10mg percocets for "break through" pain. He was taking several of those throughout the day to deal with the pain and high functioning. He could have killed Elvis with that shit, but he was in such pain from that tumor that it was the only way he could function.

I just finished watching Crime of the Century
I have a lot of thoughts on it, but the one thing I kept going back to, especially when they started talking about Insys is those fuckers killed Prince.
As far as Purdue Pharm - I guess their biggest fear was their stuff being regulated because they really can't be held accountable for creating a time release drug (continuous) and then people on the street realizing that if you crush it up you can get the complete high snorting it.
Those drug distribution warehouses is where the thing really went off the rails and of course politicians were bought and paid for to change the law. Not surprising, but it paints a pretty bleak picture of Washington - that the law was passed unanimously because no one bothered to read the fine print.
