If you haven't read it already, here's the NY TImes' Jameis Winston piece. It's pretty damning.

The NYT, believe it or not, have published some stories that didn't hold up to scrutiny. Especially where college sports are concerned.

True, but their source for a lot of it appears to be the Prosecutor himself. Granted ,he may want to take some heat off his own hide.

This was the first I had heard that one of the other players recorded a large portion of the sexual encounter and later destroyed it.

All that was part of the original documents released by the district attorney when the case was dismissed. There really was nothing new at all in the NYT piece that I saw.

One thing you might not have known - Georgia Cappleman from the state's attorney's office, is the daughter of Bill Cappleman who was a QB for FSU. I'm surprised the NYT didn't highlight this as another egregious conflict of interest in this whole affair.

Correct. Meggs is the source for much of the info in that article. And he loudly complains that the campus police and Tallahassee PD badly mishandled the case and consequently couldn't provide him with the evidence he needed.

I don't think campus PD really did anything wrong. They were called initially, but she didn't identify Winston until a month later and it was in the TPD's hands at that point. The question to me is whether you believe TPD's version of events, that she basically refused to move forward with the case and was essentially uncooperative.

Keep in mind that her version of the story has a lot of inconsistencies as well (she was hit in the head, she was roofied, she was trashed - none of these have any physical evidence to support)

point is the auntie will keep stories in the press until Jameis has cash on hand and Meggs will point fingers of poor performance at the university and TPD to cover his own ass

Winston cited (arrested) for shoplifting crab legs from Publix.

As if all the cleatchasers didn't give him crabs already...

What a non-story. Let me know when he does something really dastardly like oversleep at an offseason football camp.

And with the new NCAA "unlimited food" rules, I'm sure he could have gotten some food on campus. Hell, he could have called any number of fellow students and said, "could you pick me up some crab legs?" and had them within an hour.

But it's not like he shot the president.
